not really an update as I spent all day yesterday elsewhere (namely seeing Wall-E ) Just posting a couple of shots with slightly better lights.

In my opinion, the "roof tiles" texture ought to follow the curve of the station. Otherwise, great!

they will. I'm getting all the shaders in place, and all the materials that don't require mapping done first. Then I will unwrap the main parts.

small update. Finished a couple more shader setups including the buildings on the bottom city. I ended up remodeling that area as well to work a bit better. No pic yet, but it's rendering as I type and should finish up in a couple of hours. Close-ups are a bitch.

In the mean time, here is my last render. just a lighting test for the vents.

also, something of more interest. I'm uploading a new attachment with a nebula test comp to the thumbnail slot on page 1. Sorry for the small image, but I didn't want to wait too long for a render.

here it is so you don't have to browse to page one.

And how long did it take to render?? You could always set the render off when u goto work or when u goto bed.

2 steps ahead of you. That's what I always do. In fact the render from last night is currently in process again with a few fixes. I'll check back on it after I get back from work later this morning.

the in-progress images take about 2 1/4 hrs each depending on how close to the camera parts are.

the nebula test took about 30 minutes for the station, and only 2-3 minutes for each of the nebula components. I have to render them in a separate file because that technique isn't compatible with final gather. Plus that allows me to paint on a few final details to give the nebula a bit more character.

Wow this is absolutely gorgeous ! Both of the images are totally awesome
The lighting is really well done and make the images more realistic and moody. Can't wait to see a big render of the nebula

Fitter, Happier And More Productive ...
