Would you mind to tell me where you got those textures for the station? Did you make them yourself or did you get it from a particular reference site?
lol. Thanks for the good words guys.

the texture maps are a mix of a few hand painted pieces and the stock 3ds max "space panels" I just combine them at various scales in a mix modifier to get them looking a bit more dense. For reference I just found as many of the deep space asgard shots I could, and tried to match the coloring to that of the Beliskner class, and the specularity to that of the O'neall class so that it felt like both, and at the same time neither (if that makes any sense).

The size looks perfect.
Just look at the city in the episode trinity, and the size of the city on the replicator homeworld. So it's possible for the Ancients to build something that big.

well i think the ancient build those atlantis-city ships as for capital ship in battles or colonisation of new worlds. We've seen many other example of the remaining of those kind of ship, for example the episode the tower in season two. As for the size I think it looks great now.

Welcome to the world of SCIFI!!!

sorry it took me so long to reply. The challenge, and some real world drama had me shut down from this project for a while.

To answer, 352,980 is the final count for the station.

anyway, onto an update! If Raynor is happy, I think this will be the final composition, but I'm always open to input. I went for a slightly different nebula type, that I think is a bit better, and shows off the scale more. If I add anything it will be tiny ships, or possible a small moon to further enhance the sense of scale.

c&c welcome.

i actually like that shot. It's very dynamic angle. Like an establishing shot of the station when we see it for the first time. Awesome compisition.

2d art is treated as a bastard child in 3D forums.
There are cultures on this planet that are just plain not ready for advanced technologies like explosives and automatic guns

I think it looks fantastic. The only negative thing I could say about it is still the sense of scale. I'd add some ships closer to it or something to show the scale better. It's still kind of hard to tell (at least I think so) since you don't really know how far away the ship that we see is away from the station (or how far the camera is). It could be a few miles to a few hundred. There's no real scale reference that I can see. But then that could just be me.
