Ocean/Air Hybrid fighter

Okays ive been on the forums for some time but due to uni never really had the time to contribute, you guys are amazing by the way

Anyways time to break the non posting wall and show you guys a project im working on at the minute. Its basically going to be a water/air attack fighter I sort of had an idea for how i wanted it to end up but after laying out the basic plan im not sure im happy about the main hull shape.

I may be wrong, but the flaps in front, if you want to use this for air flight as well, those should be drive flaps.

I dunno about air vehicle, it doesn't look like it could fly unless its really far in the future, but it looks like a really cool sub, good work

I know that the turbine is supposed to flow with the shape of the design, but it wouldn't be a good idea to make a non round turbine

Ok a quick design update before i head off out, the flaps you see are breaking flaps there intended to slow her down before hitting the water. I was originally intending the engine like it is, that isnt the turbine at the rear but a sort of cowling thats meant to make the air or water spiral as it exits the rear. To throw off heat trail in the air and cavitation in the water.

Im probably going to redesign it though, thanks for the comments guys they helped alot. Ill try and work some more on it this evening.

Nice...you have air brakes and aerodynamic lift surfaces. Add a vertical stabilizer and you are good to go into the air.

Knowledge is light. Ignorance is darkness.

Really cool,

but I cant help but think you have it the wrong way around, for novelty value make it fly with the engine at the front pulling the vehicle rather than pushing it!

But they way you designed it, IMHO i would drop the rear flaps, and control pitch by tilting the entire engine.

@Berkut: Couldn't agree more - would make an absolutely awesome one or two man attack sub - something from Seaquest DSV territory!

When you are up to your hips in Alligators, you will forget that the original project was to 'drain the swamp'

Thanks for the comments guys no update as yet as ive not had much time to work on her will try and get some updates done for after the weekend.

This is primarilly something I want to get spot on through trial and error, so I would like to get a good compromise between air worthy and underwater travel. @Monkey boy, Im not sure if just having the rear engine pitch would provide sufficient stability in the air but I do agree that im not overly keen on the placement of the rear flaps I may reposition them to be more intergrated with a slight upwards tilt similar to how the F22's rear flaps are arranged.

Thanks for the comments guys there all helping shape the outcome, keep em coming

Okay new update, pretty much redesigned my whole idea of how I wanted her too look and included some of he great feedback you guys give me. The rear engines are now linked and ive included Monkey Boys idea to have the rear engines control the pitch.

Im very happy with the way its now looking, next on the list i think is to model the cockpit, missile bay and wing bays.

As always comments are very welcome and I thank all those who have already offered feedback.
