Land Raider Crusader

Not much of the "crusader" part yet, though I've started work on the Black Templars iconography.

What is the setup you use to show off all the little details? Is it a mix of light and textures?

Knowledge is light. Ignorance is darkness.

Great start, I love the details on the rear hatch! Oh, and I trust every thirteenth track link bears the Imperial eagle

@Knight Templar: I assume he's going to be mounting Hurricane Pattern Bolters, twin-linked assault cannons and a multi-melta as this is the Crusader variant.

Bollocks, I knew I missed something. But the tracks as they are now are just temporary, I'll eventually make them animated but I currently have no idea how that works in Lightwave.

Anyway, I'll be doing hurricane bolters for the side sponsons but may change it up slightly and model most of the weapons that can be put onto it (I have the model sitting in front of me and the spare bits to put lascannons on)

As for the question on details, it's all just modelled, no tricks with textures yet, I'll try to texture it and learn how to do it properly. The lighting is just radiosity switched on using the background dome to light the model.

Looks like the Mk 5 .... I'm interested in doing the Crusader that's featured on the Imperial Armour Vol.2 front cover, that's what inspired me to do the Tempest & Land Raider .... and I think this might be the same one going by your choice of weapons ....

Will be interesting to watch the build on this one ....

Great start Armondikov

Btw, I hope you'll get back to your Thunderhawk, .. that was going well, then you stopped working on it ? ....

Probably because I have it right in front of me. I've started doing a little bit of colouring and texturing (specifically the wings on the door are the only parts at the moment). It's strange that I've not seen the recessed panels painted white on any Black Templar models before, I quite like it and it's an obvious colour scheme for them.

And I should get back on the Thunderhawk, I could go back to it and make it Black Templar themed and it may get finished with this.

Are you unwrapping this model ? ... looks like you've assigned material ID base colours to block out the colours ?. Ive not seen this colour scheme before, ... the colour of the Black Templar Crusader in the Imperial Armour book appears to be a rusty/grey for its overall base colour, .... though I assume you have paint instructions with your Physical model ?, that you're basing the pattern on ? ... it just appears a tad dark to me ...
