Star trek Projectile Weapon

Star trek Projectile Weapon

Following on from the Sniper rifle that was seen in Deep Space nine i have been asked to create a Trek Carbine.

This is it, it is based on the SA080, M4 Carbine and the Tavor. It is just over 51cm from butt to tip, the barrel extends almost the length of the weapon and the ejection port is near the back as is the magazine. The idea is that as the round ejects the rifle if not pushed of target (much) and the shorter weapons allows for better control. The oval is the heat discharge this mean that the weapon cools down mush faster and is less prone to jamming.

I did toy with the idea of have a top loaded Mag like the P90 but not sure about that at the moment, maybe for the next one.

The Magazine is one of two, it is either just like a real one with so many rounds, or it has a micro replocater with a small battery that can recreate 50 rounds before needing to be replaced (hence the magazine)

Let me know what ya think..

Matt

hm, just does not look like a Starfleet weapon.

But heck, the isomagnetic disintegrator does also look not-Starfleet...

Doesnt really look like a carbine...too cluttered, and you definately dont need double scopes.

Hmm, i'm not exactly a fan of Trek but there's something about that weapon that just screams..... Unwieldy.

For one.

It has a foregrip, and is has a bullpup style magazine, this is not conducive to quick reloading. Or efficient. The large "oval" doesn't fit the weapons appearance. And the underbarrel weapon looks very heavy compared to the rest....

Reality is like a kick in the balls, you see something you like and WHAM.

Cool Idea, but I don't think StarFleet would be using a Chemical or Powder propellents even thou the TR-116 rifle used some kind of Chemical propellent.

If Starfleet were using some kind of projectile weapons they would be EM based and there would be no need for propellents or cartridges to contain the propellents. A projectile weapon should be a standard weapon for all Starships incase they are in a environment that renders Phaser weapons useless.

Keep up the good work and keep those updates coming on this project!

I agree and disagree! in a situation where a Phaser wouldn't work is also the place that an EM weapon wouldn't work. Where as a projectial weapon is very reliable (see the past 100 years or so, and yes i know it goes farther back then that but the last 100 years the design has changed little)

As for the desgin... um... kinda messed up, i have all my scales wrong, i was using 1/2 for the Di of the barrel but 2/1 for the length... so it looks out of wack... working on it now...

This is a P90 ish type weapon, i am going to rework this as well but i think i will keep the basic desgin.

I will tell you what i have having the most problems with, that is the width of the Stock and the main body... Coz even 44mm looks to wide for the weapon...

Hey, cool designs and all that, they're pretty good, and with some work they'd be great.

Just one thing i noticed, the stock on the rifle is WAY to long. Any person trying to fire it would just barley reach the pistol grip if they had the stock up against the shoulder, nevermind that fore grip or magazine. Alos, those scopes are way to far forward to be of any real use to some one using them, they should be a bit farther back above that oval heat thing.

It has the makings of a good rifle design, except for a few small things, but once those have been ironed out, it will be a good rifle and it will also look good.
