It is at the end of the Galaxy-class era. Just before the Sovie, Norway, or the Steamrunner. I imagine that the vessel was being developed opposite to the Defiant class. The vessel was made to defend the Federation from the Borg. The origins for the design comes after the battle at Wolf 359. Damaged and destroyed ship components were used to build the vessel. The Akula, NX, and Norway (plans) classes were used to configure the vessel.

During the Dominion war The Balao Class served as a recon and attack ship. Most notable ship was the Stingray.

Actually, I was wondering the other day.....would this design be capable of docking Oberth-type mission-specific pods directly to the ventral area just underneath the impulse engines, just behind the saucer section's shuttle/workpod/cargo bays? (Considering the main navigation deflector might be in exactly the right place to shove debris out of their way, too.)

I found a pic of a shuttle craft. I do not know who created it, but I loved the craft. This is my version of it. I am also showing the pic of the inspiration.

Man that is a cooling Federation shuttle, it looks almost like the ARGO Shuttle!

I am going to be starting the hull plating. There really is not much to the shuttle. But I think that it will be on board the Stingray.

Here is an update on the shuttle. As of right now I do not have a name for it. It is larger than a runabout. I imagine that it was designed after Voyager arrived back in the Alpha Quadrant. So it would have some of 7 of 9's advancements. Let me know what you think.
