@ homerpalooza67:

Don't talk to me about the Munchkins, ... It WAS alot worse a few days back, when they locked horns with the Ompa-Lumpas ..... which resulted in a complete Lock-Down of the place, .... The Ompa-Lumpas were hurling giant golden eggs at the Munchkins, and the Munchkins were yelling back,.... "You Yellow Prick Toads" ... at least that's what I think they were calling them ?, .. As I overheard a couple of Munchkins shout, .. "there's one, ... Follow that Yellow Prick Toad !!" ....

Once the Rehab staff got the situation under control, ... it was concluded that the Ompa-Lumpas & Munchkins were far too volatile to remain in Rehab, ... resulting with the Ompa-Lumpas now serving hard time without parole at some Chocolate Factory .... while the Munchkins have been sent to do their punishment, by laying Brick Pavers (Yellow I believe) in the glaring heat of the Australian Outback that the Locals call ... The land of OZ ...

Anyway better get back OT, otherwise Wiz will Ban me from his thread

@ Wiz:

Yeah looks like a good book, ... and no cheating using other peoples Body Meshes .... you'll learn alot from doing one yourself .... as you're still going to need a human frame to use as the underlying part of 3PO (not just as a guide for the suit) ...

@Binkerman: yeah, but YOU didnt have to deal with an insane Gungan streaking through the R2 ward. Trust me, those little 'droids are gonna need some serious therapy....Not to mention the half-broken battle droid, who roams the hallways, saying "roger roger!" all day long.....

@binkerman:
As ever you have me in stitches
I only 'borrowed' the body mesh to see how far out I was (and it was a lot... ), I will make a start on my own over the weekend (no cheating here, just some slight bending of the rules ).

I have been going around in circles with the shoulder piece, and now realise what I have done wrong - the shoulder hole is bigger than than the arm hole whereas I have them the same size... bah... so have to redo that bit after spending an hour getting the top piece slotted in and all fitting well (I can feel the battle for sanity has now truly begun :P)

@homerpalooza67
I can see a film in this lot, "Star Wars - Where are they now?"

Well I am going my best to ensure this is all done the right way, and learning a lot from having to work with more organic type shapes

This is the fore-mentioned shoulder piece which isnt right and had me scratching my head until I found some better reference in which I can now see the size difference in the two holes...

So this is what I spent a couple of hours on yesterday trying to get it right (and thinking I had), only to find it wasnt lol.

So I will have another crack at it today, I will also lessen the harshness on the edges of the greebles as well...

Ok off I go, thanks Crunchie its Friday

I've been away for a bit so I had to go through about 10 pages of great updates on your C3PO! Everything is looking really great!

My only suggestion is that you maybe rough out the entire body before trying to put in all of your wonderful details to the body elements. Once you get your body roughed in and you're sure that you have all of the proportions correct you could then go in and put in your detailing. This will keep you from having to re-do a ton of work.

Also, while correct edge loops are really important, you could probably get away with a lot of things on this model that you wouldn't want to on a normal figure because most of C3PO's parts don't bend. So you're not worrying about they deform during animation at all like you would on a human character.

Looking forward to more great updates!!!

Heh, .. Just thought it better to stay on track and not subject Wiz to more of my madness, ... Fortunately he saw the funny side of it, ... but will behave myself with future posts .... Though if a Movie gets made about what goes on behind the closed doors at SciFi-Meshes Rehab Wing ... I want a slice of the royalties damn it ....

@ Wiz:

Will be following along with the updates Wiz, .. keep going mate ...

I plan too

Hey JeffreySG good to see u back mate and thanks!
I am modelling the body this week, and will have that underneath for proportions etc., but really do want to have the topology as tidy as possible on the outer shell as well, merely an exercise in order to improve and better understand edgeloops and the likes

Well here is a quick update, finished the shoulder piece and now its the body (underlay), so off I go

Well its been what seems like an age since I did anything on 3PO, but I got a chance this week to have a crack at the base body and here is what I have so far (I know proportions are still of ((a bit lady like)) and so on but will address them as I move along).

So not much of an update but here ya go

I am doing the body seperate from the suit and importing to ensure I am not being influenced by the current shape of 3PO's torso and just did a quick import this afternoon to see how its shaping up and can see straight away the lines are off (esp in the back area).

So more later this week, as I am aiming to complete the chewy human centre to 3PO this week including head and face which will be based (roughly) on Mr Daniels himself... so will be good to see how that turns out :P

As ever feedback very much appreciated

Cheers,

Wiz.

Ps - Ooooh actually I got a chance to play with Artoo, some improvements again, so here he is as well, so as a form or apology for the crappy 3PO update here is Artoo (as ever a lifesaver )

And here he is, in a reworking of (more accurate - some bits still missing) the Blockade runner (reworked for a fanfilm).
