| Can't wait - you're doing a good job with a tough subect, C-3PO. I think that he's one of those models that is so organic and particular that it might take a lot of time and some redos, but will be that much more rewarding when you know that you got it right. HD frames and the photoshop ruler are your friends. I once had to model something like this from reference photographs and I eventually made an excel spreadsheet that kept track of all of the measurements and did all of the analysis on the fly based on photoshop pixel measurements. One of the things that I found helpful was to place importance on measurement data based on the size of the sample. ie. if I measured part of the model in two different photographs, but the piece was twice as big in one photograph, then that larger measurement would recieve twice as much importance. I ended up with some pretty decent results. Go go go! |

| Thanks mate, and thanks for the tips, going to have to give them a go me thinks! Although I have loads of reference I don't have any definitive front/side/back profile shots, so most of this is suck and see (hence the fun with the shoulders :P). I have measurements for the arms and a few other bits and pieces on him which were all garnered from the c3opbuilders website, (so thanks to all the guys on there for posting their building information ) but like you said lots and lots of redo's on the way, the more I look at him the more I shudder... so off I go ![]() Cheers, Wiz. |

I'd say fix the shadow and try and get some reflections in there and it'll be perfect | |

| Thanks matey, and no problemo, can do For the next one that is (this version used photometric web lighting with ray trace shadows), with hopefully Threepio all done and dusted and running around in his default state of panic. |
