wow, this is really nice so far.
we see so many R2D2s, so this is really nice to see someone take on the challeng of modeling 3PO, as he is far more complicated then R2.

the texture is really nice. is that a reflection map? looks good.

@Stoic0209
Hehe lets hope I can get his head back on his body at some point...

@Jack Skieczius
Definitely far more complicated :P
The material is a metal (arch & design, with some edits), and has a HDRI map in the environment map

Cheers matey, and I certinaly intend to...

Ok my first redo (of many I am sure) coming up.

I got this far on the back of his head (see below image) and realised the topology was all wrong to allow me to finish the front bit of the frame (the outline piece going around the front of his head), bah...

Anyway, I will give it another go today, and I have also been doing some research on edgeloops which has indeed helped a lot and also allowed me to improve the mesh for the front of the head.

So on I go

Welcome aboard

Grab a seat and watch the gradual maddening of me

Well had another crack at the back of the head, got the main shape done, and much happier with the topology...

You will probably notice the bolt on the back of the head and the ridges on the side are missing... Somehow I have to attach that bolt, and then work in the ridges... So here goes, ... Back soon... maybe... :P

wow, nice update.

the back looks nice, and the bolt looks perfect to me. nicely done.

i wonder now, what were they thinking back in the 70s when they made him. cause really its a very original design that is now world famous.

keep up the good work man.
