Ya very welcome matey, glad it is of some help

Ok a final note to add to that, below is the the exposure control I used along with another test render.

I also this time ommitted the environment map on the material itself to give Threepio a spooky low lighting affect

wow, so you put it in the glossiness channel then? thats nice, i wonder what effect i would get in lightwave by doing that.
to bad i couldn't make my space scenes look good with HDRI maps. tho maybe i could but still, on the ground the maps have so much more to reflect and look good.

tho, i may try something like that. i haven't yet added any reflectivity to my legacy class rebuild. i would have to make a map. think i can do that in lightwave, not sure tho.

anyway, thanks for the tut. thats really cool. keep up the awesome work, cant wait till ya work on the body.

LOL that's the creepiest shot of threepio I've ever seen It's like a teaser poster for a star wars slasher flick... 'Dawn of the Droids' great work so far.

@Jack Skieczius
Yeah its just a specular (glossiness) map, which helps give the dull, shiny, and dirty bits, mix that with a bump map and dirt in the difuse map (which I am not doing currently) and you can get a pretty cool banged up piece of metal and lightwave is more than capable of doing all that BTW your Legacy rebuild is looking very cool mate, nice work!

@Tovette
"Dawn of the Driods"

Yeah does look creepy doesnt he I always liked the lighting in Empire best of the 3 films, and thought Threepio looked definitely his best in Empire, which is what this lowlight reminds me of most.

Noticed your location - San Diego, spent a little time there, had a cooool time, great place, played probably the worse rendition of Great Balls of Fire on the piano from the film in the Top Gun bar lol, hopefully will get back there someday to redeem myself :P

Hi mate, and welcome

3DSmax - Poly to poly for the base mesh and using Turbosmooth for the sub-d (hope I answered your question correctly).

Well nearly at the top of the hill, although I think I see a mountain beyond
