Threepio How do chaps, Been a while, anyhoo decided its about time I needed a new project and thought what the hell bite the bullet and go for C3PO (I have been threatening to for long enough)... Now I have to warn you the updates are going to be few and far between (nothing new there then), especially as this is my first time doing a humanoid (organic) type character modelling, so lots to learn and to get through so be patient with me as character modelling is not my strong point ... So anyway started on the head today, and its been a struggle, but think I am getting there, so I will see how this goes, and if I pull it off will see about the rest of him... gulp :P ![]() Update (what month is it?) coming soon ![]() ![]() Wiz.

If this turns out half as good as your R2, it will still be fantastic! Looks like a really great start!

Gulp... the presure is on now to deliver... ![]() Thanks chaps Already added your pics Jeff to my growing reference collection of the Golden bot (God I had forgotten just how much work went into gaining all the reference I needed for Artoo and he was just a bloody cylinder with a half sphere on top) ![]() I have been wondering about the body and what would be the best approach, should I model a human body for the base then over the top add the pieces or do the thing as one piece .... suggestions welcomed! Well back to it, will try and get the head done this week... (emphasing the word "try" there). Cheers, Wiz.

People underestimate how difficult he is to do .... The suit was cast from hand sculpted parts and NOTHING is symetrical ... If you've never done any organic modelling before you've done well so far ... When you're about 50% through doing him, you'll be questioning your sanity and asking yourself why you started it, ... When you reach 90% you'll need to check the dictionary to see of there's any words you've missed to be more creative with your expletives .... Once you reach 100% completion, .... i'll visit you in the rehab wing of SciFi-Meshes (make sure you get a window) .... I can already picture you with this glazed look on your face, staring into nothingness, not hearing a word people say, jaw slightly open .... You wont remember me visiting, but you'll enjoy the grapes .... On a serious note, ... take your time with it mate, ... Recommend you do a human character as a base so you'll have correct proportion, then dress him with the parts .... Good Luck with this one Wiz Jas

@madmatt Thanks matey Will do!@Binkerman ![]() ![]() Yeah, will see if they can keep a window seat vacant for me :P Funnily enough was looking over the parts last night and thinking what the hell have I gotten myself into ... I can see many start over's coming my way and endless sleepless nights and then the inevitable drooling and visits from strangers that I cant properly see baring grapes Will do the body as a base as you suggest, need to get my head round that bit then start on the feet up and let the madness begin ![]() The chin is done, so the front of head is finished (and no sign of madness yet...) now onto the back (holy crap what the hell is that thing on the back all about - it begins...)
