Transformer LOGO Robot WIP

Hay guys. Its been a while since iv been on here. I must say that the new site looks amazing and the quality of 3d work being posted is outstanding!

Anyways. Iv been working on and off as a freelance artist and in conjunction with a local film studio on a whole heap of smaller scale sfx projects. Iv been given the job of creating a an add for a concert that will be held here in newcastle (aus) that will be heavily reliant on cg. They asked for a robot. That was it.

Anyways, theire logo is a green star so i said why not make the star transform into a robot... yada yada thats where they went with it.

Sorry for the speech lol. Heres what ive got so far, IM kinda stuck for inspiration on the head lol.

Yeah, Well a star isnt the most exciting thing to transform into so hopefully it will be simple enough and anything that doesnt quite fit can be covered up with some motionblur, a quick swing and a swap for a piece that does. Got any ideas for the head? As you can imagine ive been using transformers as a reference for details but dont want to copy a head.

Well assuming it is a 5-pointed star, so you could incorporate the top point area of the star into the head. Kind of like the original toy design of Starscream from the Generation 1 cartoon. But have it do some more opening or something to reveal components or the like. Just some options. I also recommend looking at some of the War Within comic designs of some of the Transformers for inspiration.

The association of light and dark being good or evil is irrelevant. For the greatest of evil can hide within the most beautiful light, while the greatest of good emerges from the darkness.

hay guys. Thanks for the feedback. Glad you like it.
Im starting to rig it up. Just wondering if any one knows of a way to make the gears etc automatically spin when i move the legs? I can get the pistons/shock absorby type thingos to move correctly when everything moves. Just strugglin to get the gears to rotate other than manually spinning them on their axis. (real pain when leg movement stops and starts!)
