Sweet! shame you don't have another ship, that we could see it ripping a hole out off.

Ow mate! now you sparked something! Hmmmm.... well... I do have a certain civilian ship I could blow the crap out of...

Your suggestion also had me dig up some very, very ancient renders, back from around the year 2000 when I just had discovered 3D studio max. I made some spaceships back then as my very first explorations into the bottomless depths of Max. Thus keep in mind that these renders are 8 years old and mostly shameless kitbashes of other ships that I scavenged from the internet. But looking at them now, after all these years, I find that some designs are worth resurrecting. Perhaps I can use them as rough sketches and rebuild them properly into Earth vessels to take on the Martian Heracles and soon-to-follow capital ships.

And to come back to the missile, I've done the materials for the missile covers, now it's presentable, especially for something that probably won't even be seen much. I think next I'll start work on the CIWS since adding those will give the Heracles a much more warship look.

Here's the CIWS system that I'll be mounting on the flanks of the bow. I was doubting to make a gun/missile system but in the end seperate systems won.
So here's the gun systems, two guns with 6 barrels each. The calibre will be roughly 30mm. I also decided to go with a caseless system with chemical propellant, allowing for a very large ammo load per drum. The drums can only be replaced externally so I guess I'll be making some reloading drones too... I still haven't touched the interior of the two relatively large EVA bays on the flank of the bow. Seems like the perfect spot to launch and recover the reloaders.
the modeling is roughly 30% done and the textures are just temp maps thrown on there.

That's like... alot of the CIWS's...
What I wold suggest though, go for belt feeder on the ammo, comming in from inside through the turret mount. just figure out an system which will allow you the most freedom of movement and throw away the drums... Unless ofcourse you really really really want to model the reload drones.
