here is the beginning of my new planet mesh. I tried to make one last year but it didn't turn out right so I am trying again. This is just the first step in several. I made the land maps in photoshop using LunarCell plugin and I'm using deks earth tutorial.

wow, the landmass looks nice knowing it was done with lunarcell. i never had much luck with that plugin.

so far, looks nice. planets can be some of the hardest things to nail together. so good luck with it man.

Your second render looks much better. You still need an atmosphere at the edge of the planet, although you probably know that since you're not done yet. I would suggest adding more detail to the continents though. I like their outline and the small oceans.

haven't even started on the atmoshere. I see what you mean on the continent, I'll look into it however, this is supposed to a frozen planet.

the cloud layer seems to be significantly bigger than the land mass layer. Unless im seeing it wrong there appears to be a gap between the 2 spheres.

The sphere radius for the land is 70 and the cloud sphere is 72, I'll take it down to 71.

now comes the hard part, the atmosphere. I always have trouble with it.
