well here is the prowler so far without the weapons>
It may differ somewhat form what people had in thier minds but there is no reason to have a radar diffusing hull in space so its not an angular hull. Ive based it like i said before on a modern sub. Used for covert ops, intel and insertion of special forces.
The model has a highly advanced sensor parkage at the front as well as a low profile 190 degree bridge. Ablaitive armour around the hull sections and rear as well as cold running engines allowing the ship to run invisible when at 30% power.
OO and there is a hanger in the bottom to allow smaller ships to dock. With opening doeers and retractable umbilical, ill post a render of that when its finished.

Looks good. very stealthy, and completely different than I would have made it. which is good. cool idea on the bay too. That could be where they carry their nukes and stealth probes as well. Isn't there a hard dock on the top of the ship as well? I remember in I think Fall of Reach when it mentions a prowler docked to the bottom of another ship. It might have been one of the other books though.

On the guns I had an idea. maybe they mount under the armor panels so that they can swivel around to cover without changing the sensor silhouette of the craft. Just an idea. I'll keep thinking on it. You could have them spherical since the Covenant turrets are as well, and I had the idea that the Earth Laser weapons could have a set of exposed lenses at the front to sort of show that it's backward engineered. I just think it would add a bit of character to the weapon if it has a nice visible barrel-like structure.

as for the design of the ship the only thing I'm not sure if I like is the viewports on the top front. If I remember correctly the Prowlers don't have windows so as not to leave a gap in their ablative armor. I may be wrong though. Have to check my copy of Ghosts of Onyx.

Yeah, Damm you boy! :P
I think we have most of the ships covered,
It's just the dammed stations.

In Ghosts of Onyx I remember them saying something about looking out the Prowlers forward bridge at the UNSC fleets destruction over Onyx and feeling helpless. So IF memory serves right, the bridge does have windows.

ah good i liked the low profile bridge in my model. However the frigate doesnt have windows, it has view screens star trek style so maybe im wrong, none the less i think ill keep the windows and consentrate on the weapons. Ive put the prowler on hold for the moment, ive gone back to finish the corvette, ive textured it and am making the landing gear and thrusters, as well as detailng the bridge etc. A docking arilock also needs to be constructed ill post the results later!

lol ive only just realised I can texture my SU modes in real time with my graphics tablet in photoshop! I thought id post to show fellow sketchupers how simple it is.

This SU model is hitting 98MB in file size and there is no slowdown either! I get more slowdown in SU, blender and poser7!

Wow, I never knew you could do that! Now I wish I'd installed CS3 when I had the chance (I didn't think there were any major advantages - d'oh!).

Wait... wait... So you can now texture right on the model in CS3? What about UV Maps and such?
