Exploration & Reaserch Ship WIP

Hello everybody. I'm new here
This is my WIP of a big deep space exploration spaceship.
As you can see I haven't finished the entire hull yet.
The current problem that Im facing is detailing the ship (Plates, Greebles and so on...) In order to create smooth areas I used smoothing groups + mesh smooth modifier. The problem is how to create the details without geting complicated with the smoothing.
C&C are welcome and any help will be appreciated.

well, you can use the Chamfer, to smooth out the corners...as for the details, well thats always up to the creator...it is a personal thing I think when it comes to detailing.

I do like your basic design...great start.

Hey tehre lad, welcome to the forums.

I like the shape of your ship. Tho the stern is a little blocky compared to the bow, so a little smoothing there might be good idea. As for the detailing goes, you can always go through the other threads here to get inspiration, but it really is mainly on the author just as star_creations said. And for pannels, there are some tuts in the tut section about that IIRC.

Thanks for the replies.
Tinukedaya - the stern is not finishred yet. I only put some primitives so I'll have an idea about the size and the general shape of the ship.

I like your design, especially the really big engine. I imagine an engine like the ones of the corellian corvette from star wars:

I may be a big star wars fan, but big engines are cool

Don't worray about detailing the ship, it will go on, and if some part annoys you, move on to another, that's how I'm doing it on my WIP.
