USS Locksley v2

Quite some time ago I created a reinterpretation of the USS Sagittarius, a TOS-era ship that was featured in a series of Trek books and graced the cover of "Reap the Whirlwind." My version was a TMP-era ship which I named USS Locksley. Some might contend that my version was better, some might say otherwise. I, however, feel that it was definitely some of my best work to date. Unfortunately, all of the meshes I did in the last year were lost in an HD crash and they are unretrievable. So, here I am, attempting to rebuild what was lost.

Here is a link to the original WIP thread for the Locksley:
http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/3...ass-refit.html

Progress on this will be slow, I warn you. I am in Army AIT training at Ft. Gordon, so I've got very little free time on my hands these days, but what little time I DO have will be spent on this. Comments, suggestions and critiques, as always, are welcome.

First, a pic of the original mesh I created and then two WIP pics of the new version....

Its a shame you lost the original, but I'm sure you'll be able to bounce back with this one, aslong as you remember to model weapons :3

Its a nice clean start, though theres a slight 'mesh error'(?) on the top of the part where it blends the hull into the saucer (If it makes sence)

No mesh errors in that area. What you're seeing is probably just a bit of wonky specularity- a lighting "artifact." I'm using Raytrace materials so that the ship will have a more metallic appearance to it. And don't worry, that won't be the permanent base color for the ship- I'll give it a more traditional paint job once I've got more stuff modelled.

Update: started on the saucer's gridlines...

Fortunately, I remember this one, too. Just barely. It'll be a small miracle if I can mange to finish it, though- I keep getting frackin' interrupted by one thing or another, dammit.

Thanks for the compliments and support, guys. I'll hopefully have more updates tomorrow, provided I get enough personal time to do any work on it.
