I'm currently working on a Cobra class destroyer, a light escort vessel from Games Workshop's Battlefleet Gothic game. The gaming miniature I'm using for reference is only 32 millimeters (1¼ inches) long so I'm having to make up all the fine details myself. I've finished the basic structure and have made a decent start on the detailing but there are still a lot of blank areas to fill. When (if) I get this done I plan on building a number of other ships from the BFG universe but considering the amount of work it requires to detail these ships I think it is going to be a very long term project. Comments welcomed.

I'm already beginning to fiddle with textures a bit as an ocassional change from the detailing work, but how long it will be before I get serious with it I don't know. I haven't even made up my mind what the final colour will be yet. How long it will take depends to some extent on how many layers of detail I decide to add, I don't have anything like the greeble plugin so I'm doing the detailing manually, piece by piece, with booleans and the knife tool. I'm not a fast worker at the best of times and I've been further slowed by going back and altering some of what I already had built. I decided some of the basic windows were too big so I ran around the house with a tape measure checking on standard sizes and then rebuilt many parts of the ship changing windows from 5x3 metres to 2x1½ metres. I had the basic stucture for the Cobra built in around 8 hours, for the past three days I've been adding details and I don't think I'm even halfway done yet, I shudder to think how long it will take me to do the bigger ships although I think the lessons I'm learning on the Cobra will stand me in good stead when I do start them.

Do you think you could upload a copy of the model as it is now mate? It's detailed excellently and the Texturing i can deal with for my project, hell you definately have it looking it's 1.5 kilometre length.

A couple of close up shots of the central hull area which has been the focus of my detailing work these last couple of days, plus a first test of some textures as I have now narrowed it down to two potential colour schemes that I like. And after all the time I've been spending on the detailing I couldn't resist taking a brief timeout to try a render with some lighting and a background. Have patience my friend, I will upload the model in due time but I am reluctant to circulate a model that I am not happy with and I will need it to at least appear to be finished before that happens.

Great work matey, I love the blue one with the stripe more, though my own fleet it done in the green/gold and white colours. (Though I used silver instead of white.)
