I ran way over time sorting out the smoothing errors and whatnot on my mesh, and it's not finished by a long shot, but it was the first time I tried something like this and I had fun so I'm posting my "results" anyway. This turned into a subpatch model quite by accident (I hit the "tab" key by mistake, and liked the result...)

The center weapon is what I started out making, and it's right now lacking a bipod; the others were logical variants.

The weapons have no mechanical triggers - the pistol grip has a fingerprint reader where the trigger would go, and a neural impulse sensor that reacts to the intent to fire. With a properly trained operator, the weapon will fire only when target is under the crosshairs.

(Alternatively, if you take the weapons as being mecha scaled, the weapons lack external triggers and are fired electrically by depressing the trigger in the cockpit... Not sure which version I'm going to end up doing. I might even end up adding a real trigger anyway).

Modelling time for all variants was about two hours, of which about fifteen minutes was building the grenade launcher, and five being the modified stock, barrel, and scope.

Good effort, but two hours is a little bit too much over time really! Still, it's up to the judges to decide, which is basically everyone who votes

Now you've tried it once, maybe try taking what you learned from this set and give it another go. You should be able to get a little further this time as you have already made some mistakes so you know what to avoid next time

Decided to go 'old school' with my entry.

Anybody remember Space 1999?

Here is the stun gun.

Took about an hour and six minutes. Could have easily spent more as there are a couple of problems.

There is some creasing that needs smoothing out, the grip isn't quite right and it needs a hole in the bottom (oo er!)

Please be gentle this is the first modeling I have ever put into public view.

Heres the reference.

Sarcasm - Is only 1 of the services I offer.

Hey Tugar, nice entry. The 60 minutes is for modelling time only, so if you want to add a texture later you are more than welcome to.

Just a reminder that there's one week to go. I'm thinking this might have been set to run for a little bit too long, but we'll see if there is a last minute rush of entries

Better rendering of the Model. Played with the metals a bit and textured the grips. I call it Maxwell's silver hammer. Those of you smart or old enough will get the reference.

Here's my entry. The M231 Assault Rifle. This assault style rifle is chambered in the proven NATO round 5.56mm using standard 30 round magazines. It features a quad rail system around an aluminum frame heatguard. The receiver is constructed out of forged carbon to keep the rifle as light weight as possible. The M231 is a straight gas blowback operation though like the reverred M16, features a long recoil buffer as part of the butt stock tube. Modelling took about an hour, just slapped a material on it for completeness, no texturing.
