The Martian Idea

Well, a quick introduction for this thread is in order I guess. Since there I decided to slowly start expanding the background of the universe my two ships are set in, the Olympic and Heracles, it seemed like a good idea to keep every bit and end together in one thread. Also, Berkut showed a genuine interest in modeling models for this universe so he'll be posting his stuff in here too.
For those of you who have no clue what I am talking about, take a look at the last few pages of my Heracles and olympic threads.

I'll also post a slightly updated pdf with the timeline here, which will be the main backbone for expaning the background. I intend to write more detailed escriptions of major factions set in this uiverse.

So not to keep this thread empty, here are some pics of the dropship I'm making for the Heracles. It's intended to be fully atmosphere-capable, hence the fluid form. And the design is based on contemporary Russian WIG (Wing-In-Ground effect) ideas which allow for incredibly large payloads by cleverly diercting and concentrating airflows under lifing bodies. The dropship is little over 50 meters in length and is designed to carry 4 APC's, each with 20 Marines on board. It's designed to be fully amphibious, being able to land on water, over the horizon, deploy it's amphibious APC's and the act as a support point for the troops on the ground, The neck will be armed with vertical launch systems, being able to deliver anti-tank or anti-building precision weapons for the boots on the ground.

Well if ships for the The Martian Idea are going to this thread, I guess I should post my only contribution.



I built it for my own universe but Meph liked it so much he asked to use it.
It’s an Aries Class, short range fighter.
The paint job in this pic is for my own universe. But if you want to see the paint job for this one, check some of Mephs pictures of the Olympic, in the gallery.

As for back story for this fighter, I did create one, but I guess with the Meph new back ground on his Universe, it needs to be updated.

@ Meph, if you still want my dropship for this I can get back to it, I guess it could be used for the Earth forces, instead of the Martian.

Well after having a chat with Meph, I've decided to move my ships over to his universe and I've started remaking my Multi Role Frigate Osiris to suit this universe better.

At the moment I've started again on the base mesh and made it more 'smooth' and 'curved' in places and tidy etc. I'm remaking the main turret and proberly going to add some new goodies to the engines etc.

Anway here's the Osiris and also my Heavy Superiority Fighter which at some stage I will be moving across to this universe aswell.
