Great looking starship mesh, Vektor. It definately has a feel of Enterprise D somehow- and I like it.

If the upper bay is only for the Blackfoot is it necessary to have the landing pad? Wouldn't shuttles use the lower one.

I'm gone a few months and he gets it right, guess I should stay away more often. Vektor, that is beyond words.

If you want to get technical, I'm not sure if the landing pad for the docking bay is strictly necessary, but I needed something to set if off from the main impulse engine and it just worked with the flow of the ship's lines. Then again, the bay is just barely large enough to house the Blackfoot, so landing it outside and "taxiing" it in might be the preferred method.

I dunno. If you've got a better idea, I'm always open to suggestions.

By the way, does anybody happen to know what the width of a typical phaser strip is in meters? I'm thinking the ones I currently have shown are too skinny at this ship's proper scale.

I would say that the width varies with the size of the ship/ phaser type. it's certainly not very consistant any other way. if someone has the TNG Tech Manual, I think it lists dimensions, but I'm at work right now.

from an asthetics standpoint, they look fine as they are, maybe they could be a little wider.

looking great as always

I have the german USS Enterprise Tactical Manual here, there it says the phaser banks are made of "small" comb-like elements 3,25 meters long, 2.45 meters wide and 1,25 meters high. My scanner is not working right now, but I'll attach an image later, when I got it working again.

[EDIT] here are the images... german, as I said, but u should get the message...
