Looking Up

Well I guess I will throw another 2 cents into the pot. Obvisously I am not an artist so I can not speak from that stand point.
A while back we were delighted that we had a workable bridge first done by Sean and then taken over by NightShadow both doing a fantastic job, when we thought this is going to be it, we embraced this bridge whole heartily even if it did have traces of the Sovy bridge going through it, I mean it is possible for two different starships to have very similar bridges.

Now, and especially since Vektor has basicly designed a different configuration style bridge module (and since this bridge won't work very well in that layout) it seems we are all thinking we should have a bridge befitting this gorgeous looking ship something unquie, and with everyone ready to move on that, maybe we should.

There were times when we all wondered if this project was ever coming to an end, and now as Vektor said once he finally sees a light at the end of the tunnel, even tho that tunnel may still be a little bit down the road. I just want everyone involved feeling really good with all of this, and really wanting to tackle these new projects surrounding all of this.

I am glad Nightshadow is back in the spirit of things wanting to do a bridge, if Sean wants to participate again in this project that would be great as well.

As mentioned before we do have some old interiors of various rooms with the old Grandeur done by DrBob Crosswell, and they were great for the ship then, but this is a highly new upgrade so the call is still out for other 3D artists to join the project if they want to tackle other rooms as well, one of the biggie would be engineering.

Well anyway there is my 2 cents again, very excited to see where this will all go.

Nightshadow, speaking of Bridges if you still want to tackle the Blackfoot bridge you and the Commander talked about a while back that still is open to do, up to you. The Grandeur bridge is the main priority though.

I think, at this point, that keeping our priorities straight would be a good idea. One step at a time, y'know? If we bog ourselves down with too many side projects it really WILL seem like it'll never end.

Vektor: If you would, please either post or send to me a top-down shot of the bridge module so that I can make a decent outline of it. Provided, of course, that Sean decides that he can't throw his hat into the ring this time around. If he can't, I'll do everything I can to design a decent bridge interior on my own.

No problem Nightshadow just reviving old talk of the past... as mentioned Grandeur is the first priority

Thanks, Cassio, but I think I'm gonna hold my breath and see what Sean says about the things I did to his work (cringe!). While I'm sure that the modelling and re-modelled pieces are of better-than-average quality, I'm really still unhappy with the lighting rig.

Let's not jump to the conclusion that the current bridge interior is incompatible with my exterior. I just sent a copy of the exterior to NightShadow and we should soon have an evaluation of how well they do or do not fit together.

The only interior I am particular concerned with is the briefing room, which will be very visible through those aft windows and I have some particular ideas of my own about what it should look like. The bridge itself is not that important to me, though it would be nice if it actually fit inside the shell I've built.

I'll let ya'll know the results of the layout comparison tomorrow either before or after I go to work. For the nonce, I work the closing shift, which is 10:30 PM CST. My gut, however, is telling me that the prospect of them matching is not good.

Screw it. The obsessive/compulsive in me just couldn't let it sit until tomorrow. Here's a pretty clear comparison of the module vs. the current bridge layout/design. Obviously, they don't match up very well, do they? I hate to say it, but I seriously think that this is more than just a simple matter of rearranging some windows. Even if I pulled the bridge interior aft some, it still wouldn't fit in right due to the way the hull surrounding the briefing room tapers. On the plus side, I've done a quick "cutaway" of the full bridge, just for grins and giggles.

looks nice, let's see what it'll turn out. The difference is not that striking, I think.
