you said something about helping out in the community? I looked at your website but all I found was stuff about the Grandeur project and trekkie idealism. Not being dismissive, I actually agree with you about the vision-of-the-future of the present day

I design your custom anything * Sea Scout Ship Changing Tides
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck was Chuck Norris? All of it.

Alot of the ship/chapters in the IFT do local commuity services. Coming up with ways to help or benefit their community. ie: help paint houses, have can food drives, raise money for worthwile causes in their community ect. with enough people in the group that can be accomplished pretty easily. Now that we have split up in various states where there might be only one of us to an area that is harder to do, so we do what we can, in other ways.

BTW the website was designed long after we had split up locally and thus does not reflect on what took place when we was a local group. We mention briefly about the IFT as you might have saw the "Live the Dream" page and other little pages as well, still have more to put up on the website.

Thanks to everyone who cares to know a bit more. Again PM me or e-mail me for further questions if you have any.

models

I think thats a good idea you have there with a physical model for each member. Before you get out the molds and paint consider this...

There is a new consumer model 3D printer coming to market and if you have any connections to someone who works somewhere that might end up seeing this thing in their office or something like it, you could provide the basic block of material and printer file to them and the printer does the rest. This consumer model works with a 5x5x5 inch block of material. The cost is 25 cents per cubic inch.

I can't remember atm who it was that was making this printer but it's coming out soon. I think I read about it over at tomshardware.com was it canon? I can't remember lol but anyways it's something to consider.

Thanks Tochiro76 for your suggestions, We have one model builder lined up and not to long ago was informed of another person willing to untake this project as well, so we just have to sit back and make decisions on all of this.

And just a little added correction If all goes right these will not just be for crew members but everyone that would like to purchase one when the time comes, thanks again.

I'm sure there's at least 10 people who would love a crack at patterning this ship as a kit.

Sorry there's been nothing new in a while, gang. I am scrambling to finish a little side project I agreed to do last month, which I hope to reveal within another week or so. As soon as that's done, I'll be back to work on the Grandeur.

That's okay, Vek. I'm still waiting for Sean to reveal what he's got in mind for the bridge interior, so I'm on hold, too. I don't know what Sean's been up to, though. Hopefully he's got something terrific in mind.

For those interested, based on a early post about the Grandeur Poll I have now got a simple poll set up on the Grandeur website, for thoses that did not want to join the Grandeur Forum and take it over there.

You can check it out here Grandeur Poll
Thanks

UPDATE
I hate to have multiple posts on the thread and I guess they frown on that anyway so I thought I would edit this last post and give a small update.

The small and simple Grandeur Poll is going extremely well so far, I am so glad that those of you that have taken it have contributed so far. I suspect alot more of you will.

I will throw one last plug in for the reconstucted Granduer Forum that I have in my signature. Some people like to make comments about other Grandeur related things other then how the design of the ship is coming along.
This would be the place to do that. We would love to hear what people have to say in regards to other Grandeur related matters.

Yes we already have certain ship specs laid out and various other type things but it is always great to hear what others think, somethings may sound feasable and good enough to maybe impliment, possibility another way to be part of the project.
Yes you need to sign up to be a runboard member where our forum sits at, at this time, but once you do that you can post on our forum. You do not have to be a member of our ship to be on our forum, just another outlet for all things Grandeur.

Thanks to everyone on being patient here on little posts unrelated to the design of the ship itself. Not sure where else to get these Grandeur related announcements out to people who might care.

Okay. It's been 2 1/2 weeks since I sent Sean the bridge module and we haven't heard a peep out of him. If there's still nothing by tomorrow morning I will see if I can begin some preliminary work on it myself. And, of course, I'll start a new thread for the project. And, Sean, if you're reading this and you DO end up developing something uber-kickass even though I might've already started, don't hesitate to set me straight*, please.

*Heh. Imagine that. Asking a gay man to set me straight. Whoda thunk it?
