I'm now starting to work seriously on the Infidel raider. I bought the blister pack of three miniatures to use as reference and as all three ships are diffferent I decided to make the model modular, with option parts for all three versions. Currently I am just building the basic shape working directly from the miniature so its all a bit blocky but once it is complete I will scale the model up to its final size and add the details. I already have the basic hull shaped out and the main weapons but I still have to add the conning towers and smaller gun turrets and a few minor surface structures.

Nice mate, looks just like the minatures at the moment. (Minus some pieces of course.)

Am I missing something? I hadn't noticed any organic hints, do you mean on the miniatures themselves or are you refering to some other artwork I ought to be checking out?To me the minis seem even more angular and geometricly jagged than the Imperial ships. I was going to go for a fairly hard edged look, with plenty of spikes and girders. | |

Theres nothing organic about Chaos Warships. (Unless you count Daemonships. But they're rare.)

The basic build is now done and I'm starting in on the detailing. I may yet build a third conning tower as I only got two different ones in the blister pack, neither of which were the ones which appear most commonly in pictures in White Dwarf. I've started the detailing on the dorsal modules, this will set the style for the rest of the ship. I'm going for angular octagonal arches rather than the curved gothic arches I used on the Imperial ship and octagons and the 8 pointed arrow symbol of Chaos Undivided will form a recurring motif throughout the detailing. I've also cut the arches deeper and hollowed out behind them, I will probably add a chunky bumpmap to the interior surfaces to give the impression of machinery and such like within the arches.
