the ship is taller to be more imposing...if you actually look at the shape closely youll notice that it creates the shape of Claws reaching to grasp the universe :D
So shorter in height will loose that...

here's an "inter-era" filler ship from the classic Cylon Basestar to the one that is current in the series(a transitional ship if you will)
The side view of this ship would be very similar to the classic Basestar in that its a diamond on top of a diamond config

aye I figure that's the way that ship would have to look (only so many ways to create a saucer you know...lol). And since the ship has 3 prongs on both the dorsal and ventral side(though alternating) it still keeps true to both designs(new and old)...or at least try to.

I really like the sweeping, dynamic, lines you used. But I think the basestar is too stubby looking in comparison to the show's basestar. I would have expected something more like this.

See, now it looks squished...and it defeats the concept of "presence" that I was going for. In essence you've just pulled a Sovie from an Excelsior. LOL

I agree about those changes. It does lose it's presence and becomes frail looking and weak.

Those are just a bit too close in concept to some designs SnowCrash posted 2-3 years ago.

lol...The name came to honour Count Iblis from the TOS BSG, but yes they (TOS BSG) got it form the Arabic :)

This Cyclon basestar will give its predecessor a run for its money and the Colonials should consider this a big threat to there existence. Nice work on this ship. :thumb:
