Yep, thats right, another Viper!

I know its been done a thousand times but I thought I would post my attempt (actually my 4th or 5th attempt) at it.

I'm finished the modeling of it, and have started on textures but decided to take a few blank renders to post up here.

Very nice. I never get tired of seeing mk.2 Vipers!

Pretty frakking sweet man, keep up the excellent work. I can't wait to see it textured.

I don't know if the wire frame would look like much but I will try and make some screen shots of the fuselage!

Hopefully I can find some time to apply some of the texture maps I've already made for this model in the next little while, but my schedule is fairly tight so it may be a while.

Dallidas- Art of Illusion is a free open source Java based 3d modeller with an internal renderer. I've used it pretty consistently for at least 2 and a half years now and in my bias opinion its a pretty good app for beginners or anyone who doesn't want to pay for the commerical programs. I have been thinking of doing some sort of review of it as it seems like I'm just about the only person on these forums that I know of that uses it. If any one reads this and is interested in hearing a little bit more about my experiences with Art of Illusion please let me know since I would love to see other people trying it out!

I finally got a chance to texture the Viper this week since I had the whole thing off.

Still a bit of tweaking to be done, but for the most part I think I'm done! I will be doing a dirty version at some point, I've already begun testing, as can be seen by the single bullet mark on one of the wings, but for now its going to stay nice and clean.

Comments welcome!

Looks pretty good, my only crit would be that the upper engine looks too big - it's smaller then the side engines. Other then that, very nice!

Sweet job Mate! model looks really nice... :thumb: :thumb:

You're missing some small details in the inside of the engines. You can look at Newman's thread (http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/3d-wips/16501-viper-mkii-wip.html) here or one of my WIP (http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=94363921&context=set-682275&size=o) shots to get an idea (although I think Newman's is better than mine...)

Great work!!
Jeff

Hmm, yes thanks for pointing that out, I was just looking at a couple of refs of the engine section but they weren't very good, I'll try and fix that!

sweet, love the detailing on the landing gear, not alot of shots of vipers with landing gear down.

You should do an inverted colour scheme to stay in theme with your thread title, y'know red viper with white detail. Might look very cool even :thumb:

Do you have more wireframes? I'd like to try and scratch build a real frame of it.

Please don't necropost. A kitten dies everytime you do it.

Just a note on the textures... this is one CLEAN and unscratched Viper, man! Winding up on this, it should have some wear and tear from use... but I'm sure you know that. My CGI schematic from Lee S. of Zoic Studios might help...
