View Full Version : 2D Ms paint thread
So, in a computer lab at skuell today, I was bored enough to make this. Thought it might be fun(ny) if people posted ms paint things they've made.
NICE JOB! Nice design too
And here I thought I was only was only person to mess with Paint :)
here's a few that I did(mostly schematics...but i got a scene too :)

Oh and iOSYS, I am totally stealling your design :D
(if that's cool with you?)
I usually only use paint when I'm messing about with pixel art. Case in point, here's my attempt at a pixel R2-D2 and friends:

Atolm: Wow... Those are fantastic. I like how it actually looks anti aliased. Is that planet paint too!? And sure, steal away.
Bj: hehe... droids.

I hate to say MS Paint is what I do ALL my drawings in.:( Strictly scetches though, no colouring.
And I agree, the planet is nice!
Here's a MicroHero bit I did.

I had posted this in my Columbia thread ( I believe) awhile back. But it is in paint. Just a doodle of sorts...:) Well here it is again! 27668 A small to medium sized ( flying wing) scout ship. I was thinking about the saucer design being foward thinking but also during the early days at TOS the flying wing was another futuristic design ....and wouldnt starfleet need a readily trans atmospheric scout/suvey ship?...and complete with retractable warp pylons... why not:D No markings because I didnt want to fiddle with it anymore...

Hey all you y'all that use MS Paint, I'm enjoying this thread! You all do some great work with such a limited tool (patience of Job and all that), but I was just wondering if any of you have tried learning and/or using Inkscape (http://inkscape.org/)? It's open source (free!) and delivers (IMO) cleaner lines and much better looking vector image results in the end. I'm a Fireworks/Illustrator user myself, but if I couldn't afford it I'd probably use Inkscape over MSPaint. Not that there's anything wrong with Paint if you enjoy using it, of course, just curious.

I made this set of Starfleet defense platforms almost two years ago, I even tried modeling the largest one.

These are four years old. I drew them based on someone else's very different design for a fanficton that fizzled. I prefer the second one, with the gray insert in the hump. I never did come up with a nacelle that I liked.

The other i day fired up my old 486dx66, was feeling a bit nostalgic (that and i recently got an extra monitor so i can actually leave it hooked up to play doom 2 and all the other classic dos games i have on that box in their full Dos 6.0 glory) and i stumbled across one of the first trek images i ever made.
I made this a little over 10 years (i was 12 and at the time the internet was one of those things i had heard about but never seen lol) I made this with the version of paint that came with windows 3.1.
Ah the memories, paint was good to me up till i found Paint shop Pro, after that there was no turning back. now I'm addicted to inkscape and i don't think i could ever go back to a non vector based program but who knows.
Hehe its a simple pic of a miranda, constitution, and excelsior class ships.
Back in the day, MS Paint was the only thing I had to work with. I had to make do with what I had, and I think I did OK.
Naturally, I got tired of my stuff being marred by the "steppy" look, and made the plunge into vector graphics.
This here's the Brittanic, something that's supposed to fit into the ST universe somehow.

I've been using MS Paint for well over a decade now and I'm just so used to it that when I try something new and it doesn't work like Paint I just say screw it and go back to my old standard. Probably should break down one of these days and really give upgrading an effort.

paint.net is, to me, an easier alternative to mspaint.
and, it supports layers, too.

That Bird of Prey just draws my eyes in. It's pixel art, but seriously advanced! It looks like something you'd see in a professionally made game back in the day. :thumb:

it takes patience, practice, a penchant for attempting new and crazy off the wall ideas, and a desire to have above all else, fun while doing it.
