those are Ships of my 'Alveon' called Universe.
all Renders are done in orthographic view.
At first, the Kimerian Cruiser:
With enhancement:
Render 1 - Cruiser (http://www.alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/WIP_Kimera_Kreuzer_20060723_1.jpg)
without:
Render 2 - Cruiser (http://www.alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/WIP_Kimera_Kreuzer_20060723_1.jpg)
what do you think looks better ?
closeup of some turrets:
Render 3 - Cruiser (http://www.alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/WIP_Kimera_Kreuzer_20060723_3.jpg)
and the Destroyer of similar design:
Render 1 - Destroyer (http://www.alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/WIP_Kimera_Zerstoerer_20060723_1.jpg)
a few facts:
the Destroyer is 2300m in length
the Cruiser is around 5000m
both ships are in low count, maybe 10-15 Cruisers and 60 Destroyers of that type within kimerian Space.
C&C welcome

Wow, amazing, is this your own ship, meaning from your imagination or is it a reference from movie like :D:D:D if its your own design wow man, good ideas.
Ronin
24th Jul 2006, 19:28
if there is some reference, i don't know / can't tell you what it could have been.
a comparison of both ships. I decided to scale the Cruiser down to 4300m in Length, thats what i came up with:
Comparison (http://www.alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/WIP_Kimera_Zerstoerer_Kreuzer_20060724_1.jpg)
and now i'll go on with the Destroyer
Destroyer 20060724_1 (http://www.alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/WIP_Kimera_Zerstoerer_20060724_1.jpg)
this is the Hangar-Area, defended by four Anti-Fighter Turrets. i'll try a bit around with this area now to get a feeling how the rest will look like.
in Fact, those are nearly the biggest ships in this Age of Alveon (which is currently coming to it's end ^^)

These are really great. I love the originality of the design. I've always liked ships that appear quite large even from a distance. Let's have more!

Awesome, very awesome designs! Mind if I use them in a FanFiction I'm writing for Star Trek? I wanna call the species "the Unknowns" for now. Keep the updates coming! Love to see a Dreadnaught and a Fighter!:thumb:

I like the look of the ships. Something different to their feel. They have a sleek long look as opposed to a short and bulky look you commonly see.
Ronin
26th Jul 2006, 18:39
those ships are ony to use in Alveon :), maybe i'll later dig out a few concepts which i threw to trash.
i added a few Fighters for size comparison and tried a bit around with glowing windows, but those have to be redone, they are more looking like paneling than windows.

still there, still alive...
here is a First Render of the Horus Mk II Starfighter.
HorusMk2 Render 1 (www.Alveon-Chroniken.de/WIP_Render/HorusMk2_1.jpg)
i changed the Wing Design and made them flatable behind the Ship instead rotating them to the upper side, as it was in the Mark I. the Cockpit-part is longer now, so the Pilot can take some Cargo/Equipment.
as next step, i'll do a bit of the Cockpit-Inside as well as detailing the Weapons.
target is a Hangar-Scene Wallpaper and a Space/Atmosphere-Flight Wallpaper.

Wow thats some very cool and original designs. The first ship is kinda like the aliens ship in HALO 2.

love the horus mk II's! they could alsmost be of a more angular goul'd design.

Horus Mark 2 Render 2 (http://www.alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/HorusMk2_2.jpg)
i did a bit of the Interior, added a seat....but it doesn't look good....i'll proceed with controls, but the seat has do be redone later.
Weapons Closeup (http://www.alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/HorusMk2_3.jpg)
i changes the primary Weapons-Array as well. it is rotatable and aims moving targets automatically, as far as the targettingsystem can make a lock on them.
Unknown Battleship Render 1 (http://www.alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/Alveon_Unknown1.jpg)
C&C Welcome.

11th Nov 2006, 19:23
it's a Ship of an Ancient Race, which is gone since a great War, 5000 Years before the Story of Alveon takes place.
For now, it's desired to be a Battleship somewhere near 8000 meters in Length.

Yery impressive.
I really like that last ship and the destroyer.
The designs seem to be inspired by both Star Wars and Stargate.
(But very subtile - after all they are original ships)
Carry on :)

Myth-Warship Render 2 (http://www.alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/Myth_Warship2.jpg)
Maybe adding some Solar-Wings looks nice...i'll try that as well.
In general i'll pause working on the greater Warships now and take a closer Look to a Starbase/City and a few non-military ships.
I've still Problems with Detailing and Paneling, can't get those thin lines (which seam to seperate the Hull in Parts/Panels) i saw on other Renders here. Anyone has a Tutorial / Tip for that ?

Kimerian City 1 (http://alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/Kimerian_City.jpg)
i started working on the Flying Cities of the kimerians. The Circle-based Structure was chosen to make those Cities modular-expandable. There will be some with 5 Rings, others with 15 or like that.
Currently thinking of 'what' will be on those Rings. The First Idea (over three years ago now ^^) where Towers... but not sure about that. Every Building / Area has to be removable / exchangable, those cities can not simply build from scratch if someone whats to change something.
Some Areas of the City definitly will contain Parks / Gras / Trees.

Very very nice!

City 2 (http://alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/Kimerian_City2.jpg)
testing around. Maybe the City will be made of "City Blocks" as seen in Cities today, but, because of nearly no Ground-Vehicle needed, there are no Roads deviding the blocks.
they could be divided by park/Gras and even some farms or like that.
The Building in the Center is home of the City's administration.
Otherwise, maybe only the bigger buildings have to be ease-replacable, so they may be connected to the Cities basement via standard "Sockets"
...still thinking of that.
Aresius
25th Nov 2006, 16:39
looks very good...
I like the Atlantis-based idea with another version...
It's nice to see...

City 5 (http://alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/Kimerian_City5.jpg)
City 6 (http://alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/Kimerian_City6.jpg)
now trying to set the Buildings between the City's basement. Each building will be connected to the Basement via blocks or Bridges. on the basement itself there will be Buildings as well, but i'll to them later and only a few "standard" Buildings.
First, i'll fill the City with Buildings shown in Render 6. Than modify and create new ones, as well as a Spacedocs

Overview with most Places filled:
City 7 (http://alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/Kimerian_City7.jpg)
another perspektive of what will be a skyline
City 8 (http://alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/Kimerian_City8.jpg)
the Grid seen in the foreground is a Container-Depo. Due to religiouse Believes and "Respect" / Honor thinks in the mentality of the Kimerians, those Depots are not below the City. As far as possible, the risk "trash" falling down to the Planet of Asgard must be avoided.
and a smaller freighter:
Tug (http://alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/Tug.jpg)
Tug with Tanks (http://alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/Tug_Gastanks.jpg)
Tug with Containers / Crates (http://alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/Tug_Crates.jpg)

all looks fantastic! love the very organized city. gives it a very futuristic feel.
what exactly was your problem with your hull plating?
Aresius
26th Nov 2006, 23:49
It's wonderful...
Let me ask... Where did you get the idea of the tug's design?
It's looking similiar to the Ebon Hawk from KotOR...
http://www.lucasarts.com/products/swkotor/images/gameplay/ebonhawk.jpg
http://www.rpgvault.hu/images/KotOR2/Boly/peh01.jpg
Ronin
27th Nov 2006, 06:02
there is a Freighter even more looking like the Ebon Hawk, from which the Tug is evolved, but the original Design was a circular Form of Wings, then took half of the ring and went on....
My Problem is, i don't get a Hull Plating that is "not" based on the underlaying Basic-Mesh. I often see thin lines cut into the Hull, used to seperate parts. Some people say "knife tool", but i don't get those lines, without killing most of the Face/Vertex-Structure. Most of my models use non-Planar parts or round areas...
any tutorial with that ?
Ronin

City 9 (http://alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/Kimerian_City9.jpg)
City 10 (http://alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/Kimerian_City10.jpg)
added "trees" / very low poly, just to get the right view of that area.
in Render 10 i added a Road, 8 Meters width, as well as a small Arena about 100m in Radius.
a Few Facts:
the City has a total Radius of 6.000m, some buildings are up to 800m in height and the Central Administration-Building is nearly 2.000m in total height.
Each "Ring" of the City is 1km width, the green ones, as well as those where the Buildings are.
Poly Count is at 600k ("Faces"-Value in Blender) and rising.
Next step is to create a specific scene with a higher level of detail. For example, a landed ship at the outside of a building, with Sunrise / twighlight in the background.
City 11 (http://alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/Kimerian_City11.jpg)
any tutorial/help/info how to get a nice background (3d, not static to camera) in Blender or how to create a spherical Background image in Photoshop for using it in Blender ?
thanks

if there is some reference, i don't know / can't tell you what it could have been.
a comparison of both ships. I decided to scale the Cruiser down to 4300m in Length, thats what i came up with:
wow, that's about as big as Spaceball 1
good work, just try to scale it down....a ship that's over 2.5 miles is just unrealistic in terms of movement around the ship as well as propulsion.

2.5 miles isn't really all that large compared to some sci fi ships like say the Executor (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Executor-class_Star_Dreadnought)

i think i know what your talking about.
what you need to do is extrude the faces that you want to be panels and then use the bevel script(not the built in one) to bevel the edges, which will gives you the lines you want. if you want something more detailed, then PM me. or visti my WIP thread in my sig.:thumb:
Ronin
30th Nov 2006, 11:42
All Ships in Alveon are scaled based on a Human-Sized box and a Concept of the Interior (Engine and Reactor, Bridge, Living Quarters, Hangar).
And we are not talking of thousands of Ships (Star Wars) but of less that one hundred destroyers and Cruisers whithin Kimerian Space.
but...critics are ever welcome and i'll rethink the Scaling again.
@Dallidas
thanks for the tip, which bevel-Script do you mean (link ?) and i'll take a look at your wip.
City Render 12 (http://alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/Kimerian_City12.jpg)
i chosed the perspektive of the First "more detailed"-Scene. I'll have to move it a bit maybe later, there is a Part of the Building at right, where i don't know if this looks better when detailed further.
Does anyone know how to remove those Shading errors oh the ship ?
the error occurs, when a smooth Shaded Area is extruded with a 90 or more degrees angle.

@Ronin: I like where you are going with this, but you still need to work on the mesh a bit; it just looks kinda plastic....
And if you wouldnt mind posting a thumbnail attachment on the first post; SFM rules :D
cheers!
i don't want to fill up the server with my stuff, while having space myself, and as far as i know, space here is limited.
ok, how to add a Thumbnail to the first post ?
you're right with the mesh, i think it's the materials. Will do that soon.

"edit post", "go advanced", "attachments", "upload images". its not hard
done. Uploaded the newest picture of the RH130-Ship as Preview.
I didn't see any limit in total uploaded filesize, Bug or has it been removed ?
i'm now detailing ship and City in different Blender-Files. a "Link" was not successfull. Linked Blender-Objects can't be Moved, so i had the ship in the Center of the Scene, right inside a building.
maybe the scene will be at afternoon, with a red / orange "burning"-style Horizon.
Ronin
10th Dec 2006, 12:53
Render 15 (http://alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/Kimerian_City15.jpg)
i added a few low-poly "roads", more trees and changed the Camera-Position.
I've to say that there won't be much more details, editting wents much to slow / lacks. Rendering the scene takes hours.
i hoped i could change this by linking the parts into the scene and edit each alone i one file, but this seams to be impossible, because blender can't move linked objects (or anyone has an idea ?)
next step will be a bit more color on the ships (2 in the scene for now) and rendering the Ocean, which is ca. 500-1000m below the City.

Render 17 (http://alveon-chroniken.de/WIP_Render/Kimerian_City17.png)
i'll stop this 'soon', just a bit post-Render 2d Work remains.
then i'll start this of the basics again. Now with a few experiences, hopefully resulting in more detailed buildings and less performance-killing parts.
How about the forum rules, better to start a new thread for this ?

Interesting craft. I hope that you had the chance to see CHEVY CHASE in,"DEAL OF THE CENTURY." It had two really cool unreal aircraft in it. The one was a hawk like design and I loved it. No one has done it as a plastic model as I had hoped. And the design was very much like your's so how about you giving life once more to a very long lost beauty? blueboy REDHEREFORD@AOL.COM.

This thread is so old, that Lincoln was a moderator here, the last time it was posted in,.
Nice ship though, :thumb:.
