Trekformers Concept Wallpaper

Hey everyone, I'm a regular at the Trek BBS "Trek Art" forum (http://www.trekbbs.com/threads/postlist.php?Cat=0&Board=UBB20&page=0), where there are monthly art challenges based around topics picked by the winners of previous month's challenge.

Anyway, the topic this month was "Robots and Star Trek" and one of the suggested approaches was to do some sort of Transformers/Star Trek pastiche. I couldn't resist a stab at that.

If anyone is curious I have made character bios for everyone in this particular image, but I figured on the first post I'd let it speak for itself. :) One of the other guys at TrekBBS took a similar approach to this contest (http://www.trekbbs.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=8002887&an=0&page=0#Post8002887) and we are both digging it a lot, so it might develop the idea even further.

Anyway, the image was done in Photoshop from start to finish with the help of Flaming Pear's Glitterato plug-in and my trusty tablet.

Explorabots
(The good guys.)

Enterprise
Constitution class Cruiser
The fearless leader of the Explorabots, Enterprise seeks adventure at every turn. Sometimes accused of being reckless, she understands that risk is necessary in order for the Explorabots to defeat the enemies and uncover the mysteries of the galaxy.

Ajax
Saladin class Destroyer
Small an agile, Ajax is the scout for the Explorabots. He is also equipped with a powerful Plasma phase cannon he can fire from his nacelle when transformed. He is a fierce warrior and loyal friend.

Archon
Daedalus class Explorer
Archon is the science officer of the Explorabots. He prefers cunning to force, and is logical to a fault. In combat his role is primarily defensive, and can generate a large energy shield to protect his comrades.

Tyrranacons
(The bad guys.)

Lord Wrath
D-7 Type Battlecruiser
The dreaded leader of the Tyrranacons, Lord Wrath is bent on galactic domination. Both cunning and brutal, he will use either wits or force to defeat his enemy and control his ally.

Raptortrons
Romulan Bird of Prey
Raptortrons are the foot soldires of Lord Wrath. They are weak in combat individually, but are numerous and expendable. Their strength in numbers and ferocious tenacity make them fearsome opponents in battle.

First Star Wars Transformers! I was wondering who was going to turn Star trek into Transformers. BTW-Awesome concept, so what else do you have on the drawing board? :thumb:

Well, usually I'd think that they'd fly around without a crew inside, like how the Transformers don't really need drivers. If there are people inside then there is the danger of this happening:

I suppose if you wanted a treknobabble answer you could say that the Exploracons can either beam their entire crew to safety or just store them in their pattern buffers if necessary, and if they are carrying a crew for whatever reason.

Thanks! Not sure what my next project will be. This was a distraction from my normal Honor Harrington stuff, but that has been running pretty dry lately. Really all I want to do is to take a break and play Bioshock for a while. But it's likely I'll come back and do more work with the Trekformers concept before too long.
