This one also goes with the retractable nacelle design which when open reveals the main deflector within the saucer section. She is supposed to fly with the nacelles to the front and the shuttlebay at the rear.

Well, it's a damn cool ship and a great idea, but retracting the nacelles in the way of the deflector is a bit dangerous. The deflector should be fulltime visible in front view, not only in warp-flight.
But I like the idea of the pulling nacelles instead of the classical pushing ones. It's a fancy new idea. Especially your want to have them top-down instead of left-right.

Yup I like the idea too. The ship looks fresh and futuristic. Star Trek designers could take a lesson or two from your drawing :D

Great tractor, I don't see a point in the nacelles retracting but it's a really cool design.

I can seed retracting the nacelles as a good tactical move.
Any time you present a smaller profile it's a good thing for combat purposes.
But the choice to block your bridge with them? I dunno. I know it isn't important where you put the bridge, it's still not aesthetically pleasing. Unless you reverse the deflector and have the ship going the way I first thought it was going.
Maybe if they were to either side?

Is it just me or does it seem like we're looking at a rear perspective in that drawing? After further examining the details I realized its a front view but my initial impression was that the ship was flying away from me.

Yep, at first I too thought the bridge got wider at the front. Took a few minutes to register properly... I can't decide if I love or loathe the design idea but the quality of the sketch itself is brilliant. How you kept it so clean looking is something I really need to learn. :D
Brilliant.
Fantastic.
Always nice to see a fresh take on the Trek Universe. We need more designs and ships like this :thumb:

The longer I look at it. the more the hull design warms to me.
But the warp nacelles just scream to be turned 90 degrees and moved to the edges, but still be up front.
And Keep the retractability.

I was going through my old sketches and forgot to post the Outrider with some of the changes from all of your great feedback. Here is the old vs the new. I have added the additional deflectors to either side of the nacelles and have detailed the design a little more. I have left the nacelles where they are as they are the feature piece to the design - who said the nacelles have to be at the back? Wouldn't it be more energy efficient to pull a starship through space instead of pushing it. Well hope you all like the changes.

Well, the new setup of the hull does not make a change. It's a wonderful idea.
Still lacking the problem with the hidden deflector, but a nice thing overall..

There are now 3 deflectors - two at the front of the saucer section and the central one used when the nacelles are extended at warp.

oh, hey, right. Now that you meantion them...
WEll, was still a bit tired as I wrote that last post.

this really is a cool design.
the way the deflectors and nacells are is nice. i like the few diferent iamges you have, all a bit different, yet the same structurally.
dose the saucer like area underneath separate?

Thankjs for the comments
The lower saucer does separate and takes one part of the 2 piece deflector located between the nacelles.

You know I was thinking...
If you had the ship backwards... the area that's now the nav-deflector (which is on the right side of the image as the ship is shown from the side) became the the entry to the flight-deck with the two auxiliary nav-deflectors becoming the impulse engines, and the nav-deflector placed on the other side of the ship.
And you had the nacelles pointed the other way too (red side pointing in the other direction), and you lengthened them so they ran the whole length of the ship (the pylon would be in the same spot, and retractable). To avoid getting in the way of the bridge you could remove it... there really isn't a point of having them on the ships as they can be taken out and if you got a view-screen you can place the control-center anywhere on the ship. Or you could design the nacelles so that it's a bit wider as you near the middle (however where the bridge, there's a gap so the nacelle can retract snug around the bridge)
It would look more aggressive and maneuverable.
