Neat! The green eye shading on the Vulcan is awesome! Very reminiscent of Spock's TOS make-up.

Yup, TOS as we know it. The men full of muscles and the women... well, a chapter for itself.
The Vulcan looks strange with his green eyelid shadow.

VERY BESM!
Only change I would suggest would be reducing the length of the phasers hand grip, because it makes it look like a SMG. lol

That's basically what I was going for. I always liked that in TOS. Strong, charismatic men. Sensual, intoxicating women. But I also wanted to highlight that both sexes are strong, capable, and proud defenders of the Federation. That's one of the areas that I feel Gene Roddenberry was very forward-thinking, even while the network forced him to put his female characters in miniskirts instead of pants.
Also, I'm surprised people have noticed the greenish hue above the Vulcan officer's eyes. It's a very definite and intentional throwback to Spock's makeup in TOS. I made it so subtle that I barely notice it(although this might be attributable to my mild color-blindness).
Thanks guys! :)

Hehe, Khan and Mudd's women.... oO

Then you shoul have use the Klingons. :flippy:

Thanks guys! :) Well it's pretty visible, because of the contrast of the green to the pink of the skin around and the black of the eyebrow.
But a sweet one anyway.

Woman can't become captains in TOS but it's a really cool picture.:p:cool:

They can't? Although I think it would have been a bit before its time for Gene to have put a female in the captain's chair as far as the show, there's nothing in the Trek universe saying that females couldn't be captains before TMP.
Hell, considering there are TONS of female Naval Captains and such in the modern world, I think another 200 years would only make more progress.

Not? Then how does it come on Ent that the NX-2, the Columbia is commanded by a female? Erika Hernandez.
Major Diarrhia
16th Jan 2008, 21:49
In ENT the captain of the Columbia was female but in the final episode of TOS we find that women can't become captains. It's what drove Kirk's old girlfriend insane and eventually led her to switching minds with Kirk so she could take his command. At the same time, women are treated as being as capable as anyone else in the crew and with respect. I'm pretty sure there was a female security officer in an episode and some of the notable scientists in the show were woman, while at the same time they were shown as sexually vulnerable, such as the women in the Khan and Apollo episodes. It just highlights how different the society in TOS is from what came before and after.

You mean the emancipation discovered a similar course like the Klingon foreheads?
In ENT and TMP very developed, but in TOS not existing?
Superb Image !!! :thumb:

Very well put!
In a related note, I'm actually hoping the new movie brings BACK the misogynistic, two-fisted, drinking-and-driving-while-not-wearing-a-seatbelt vibe, complete with sexual-harassment apologist Kirk, the captain who gets more booty than a toilet seat. Really, I think it would be fun.
Awesome! Ripped-shirt character shielded female captain!

@bbzw²: Well, since it's about young Kirk and young Spock on their first mission after the Academy, it's likely that Kirk was a bigger macho than at TOS.

Hell yeah to both these.:thumb: Also, her colllar should be larger and go to one side and her hair should be really long and done up or a bit longer and down.

Thanks for all the comments guys. :)
The female captain is not wearing a mini-skirt because ADB veto'ed them as "impractical" in their own canon.
Major Diarrhia: I'm glad you caught the ripped shirt reference. Now she's unstoppable! :D Unfortunately I couldn't get away with ripping her shirt as badly as Kirk's would often be. :p

Dr. Lester's comment in "Turnabout Intruder" certainly shouldn't be understood to mean that women couldn't be captains.
Green eyeshadow is awesome!

It isn't that, what makes the problem.
Remember the Saratoga captain in ST:IV? She was said to be the first female captain. Well, Okay, whatever.
As Star Trek: Voyager came out, here in Germany all where calling Janeway the first female captain.
(there were several female captains in TNG and DS9, I know this... Others obviously not.)
And then comes ENT and throws it all over.
I don't know, but aren't already several women captain or even higher ranked in the numerous armies of the present? ;)

As Janeway proved, woman aren't suited to be captains because they are a superstitious and cowardly lot... Or is that Batman? No, that was Janeway.
I for one would like to see more D20 Modern covers with female captains, please. Perhaps a cover with only female captains?:D The cover is some good campy, sexy, stuff and should be animated. I want a new TOS cartoon.

This is a totally great picture! I like seeing a female Captain with a tone of "action-hero" ( although she might look a little young for her rank ;) ). I think you excellently transfered the TOSshishness into a modern approach and the comic-style is nicely done. The wrinkles, poses and facial expressions make them look very dynamic. Only one simple thing: The batch they wear on their shirts is the logo of Enterprise - it became the Starfleet emblem only when they shifted to the new "pyjama"-Uniforms we see in the first movie. But besides that little detail, I am sure most don't know anyway, I think it is a fantastic image, I would love to see more of these! :) Thanks for sharing it.

Brilliant, is the least I must say.:)
Could you tell us how do you did that? Scanned hand drawings colorized in Photoshop? Is it in general lines? How much time to get the final image?
Congrats on the header!

Awesome...
Yes, the phasers' handgrip on the women is too large if compared with the Orin's phaser.
Yes, the green make'up is a little hard. It'll be better lighter.
BUT the work still great... If I could I'll put it on the wall of my office ... :thumb:
Just a word about history. On the pilot the 1st officer was a woman. Paramount didn't like it. After that the Captain Pike and his first officer (some time after she role play the nurse Chapman) have been changed by Captain Kirk and Spock as 1st Officer on the show.

I like this picture.
On the one hand, SFB canon is not ST canon. So the Enterprise Arrowhead could have been adopted without the faggy pajamas. On the other hand, I'm not sure the arrowhead was depicted in the Franz Josef works. If not, the sharks in the Paramount legal department(God rot their souls if they have such) could probably swoop in on any commercial application. On the gripping hand it's cool, so unless you're selling this as an actual cover...
Also... Couldn't Starfleet afford to equip this lovely young captain in a tunic of the appropriate size? I mean, come on, budget cutbacks are one thing, but that just looks uncomfortable. And just try getting it off quickly in a clench...

network didn't force him to hire William Ware Theiss.

network didn't force him to hire William Ware Theiss.ON TOPIC: I would really like to see more SFB stuff in this style. This kicks the pants of most / all of the art from the old Captain's Logs. (The new covers for Federation Commander are quite nice.)
OFF TOPIC: Go read Bob Justman / Herb Solow's Trek book about Roddenberry's "forward thinking" casting sessions. I would have to guess that he and Majel's relationship was... complicated.

That cover is fantastic. Adam, a question. In SFB cannon, do the starships have their own emblems as with TOS? Also the rifle the Vulcan is sporting is sweet, is there a blueprint of it anywhere? If not you should draft one.

excellent I want to get D-20 prime directive now. Particularly if the rules are self contained. Nice look action and a bit of camp. Works with SFB cannon to my knowledge. Star trek and SFB diverge on a few points because of the licensing and the outlook of the creators.
