Me finally have completed my little learn water reflection practice. And meanwhile made a cool picture. Or eat least I hope I managed to make one.

Oh my I don't know how to add thumbnail's. So dum. Well I just link to photo bucket again.

I open for anything you guys have to say about this really. Except criticizing my anthropomorphic character. Sorry no one is perfect. But U can citizate hes suit if you like. It like a leather underpart of a light metal armor. You can connect the armor to this clothes hes wearing right now. As it show on the left leg down on the bottom right corner.

So Pls comment on the sky n the planets on the ship wrecks even on they design and on they water reflection to. Thats why the forum is right?

Yes well typical. What was I expecting? :( I got more feedback about the ships on a single forum than here.... What to do? I just cut the picture a bit. Maybe than I can get some feedback about water reflection planets etc, if there is no character to interfier.

And thanks for not telling me how to do thumbnails. Yeah I know read the FAQ. I know Im to busy and also hate to translate for long hours.... :P

Oh yes I can also post some under collage doodles here to. Maybe that will get more attention.

The character really doesn't add anything to the image. In fact, I think it detracts from the overall image. The cropped image with just the ships, water, lighthouse, and background looks better without the winged wolf thing. Even if that engine looking thing on the cliff was in the foreground without the wolf thing on top of it I think it would work. This has nothing to do with how character itself is executed, I just think it is a stronger composition without him.

With him in the image the focus is just sort of all over the place because the colors used for the ships and the character are so similar.


EDIT: Oh, well, if you're going to get snippy because nobody is commenting, never mind.

Well LandingZone, I personally think your work it exceptional from a technical standpoint and very imaginative, it's just that many people (myself included) have an automatic disconnect with anything furry-centric. I'm not knocking it or anything like that, it's just a very specific genre with an extremely passionate albeit relatively small fan-base. I think the majority of people don't "get it", and therefore don't really know what to say about it.

I think to varying degrees everyone posts their work here for some sort of ego fulfillment, so yes it is frustrating when no one comments on the work one puts a lot of effort in, but the fact that you are one of the few people who posts work that features anthropomorphic animals should prepare you for the fact that it probably wont garner a lot of responses. It's a tough road to hoe for a furry in a non-furry environment.

I hope this doesn't come across as condescending, I certainly do not mean it to be, I think it's just reality. Also, I don't know if the term 'furry' is derogatory or not, if it is, my apologies in advance.

Well thats ok but why can u guys slide over the fur. It only takes the 20% of the picture. I knew you guys wont say anything. I even asked in my note to not to say anything about it. What with the other 80%.

Ego fulfillment. lol If I want ego fulfillment than I post on furry forums. As I did actually. No I posted this picture here to get feed back on the water reflection, on planets, the design of the ship. Ya know anything why all the other 3D and 2D artist submit their meshes and art here. To get some tips where to improve. But no! All you stuck up on the furr.

An example: "And thanks for not telling me how to do thumbnails." You two also didn't helped with this, or the doodle I posted to hear if there are anything wrong with it.

(What if, I had draw M'ress from the animated series with Spock and Kirk on that debris? Probably all of u would cheer.)

Final conclusion: If I drew fan art of star trek maybe I can submit it here. The rest wont work anyway.

Oh, and their is a large button that says "Attach Image" below the message field, that's how you attach thumbnails.

I have absolutely no problems with you wanting to draw pieces that include furries. If that turns your crank then go for it. I only said that this would be a stronger piece if the character was omitted because the palette used in both the water/ships in the painting and the character are too similar and dilute the visual focus of the composition. That you can't get past some hang-up you've got with that furry in the image isn't my problem. You need to learn how to take a critique of your work without turning into some sort of personal attack.

What the heck is "true clean scifi?!" :rolleyes: There is no such thing. You can't expect people to critique just the parts of a painting that you think they should when you present the entire work. If you thought that you were going to take critical flak for content of a work and are too thin skinned to handle it you shouldn't post that particular work.

That an artist cops a bad attitude when no one comments within some arbitrary preset limit of time is one thing. Hell, I've made that mistake before. But then failing to have the humility to apologize for said attitude once commentary or constructive criticism is received because it's not what was expected or preordained tells me, and pretty much everyone else here, everything they need to know about both the artist and their work.

Good luck on your future artistic endeavors. As for me, I'll pass.
