This is a fuel taker. The metallic hydrogen cargo is stored as a Bose-Einstein Condensate in a spherical storage tank surrounded by a spherical superstructure which houses the drives and habitat.

Some scribbling of sections of the ship...

I'll be making some changes to make it more spherical, overall.

Interesting..... i can't wait to see what it becomes later on.

Right shape for a fuel tank. Max capity with min surface area.

I've spent the past week or so drawing things, and then deleting them, because I hated them.

Hopefully, this week, I'll be able to get going on it.

Interesting design so far! Keep it up! :thumb:

Kind of supposed the tank would be bigger. that it'll fill up the "collars". that's if the gree thing is the tank. <grins>.

anyway, keep it up! wanna see more.

Yeah, originally it was bigger, but after I changed the drive to help keep the spherical shape, it conflicted with the tank, so I shrunk it.

This way makes the frame seem like overkill for such a small tank, and the supports that will connect the tank to the frame would have been awkward looking. I guess I'll go for a little less sphericalness, and restore the tank.

yeh I guess there is no problem in the engine sticking out of the silhouette.. and it would certainly look better if the tank fills up the frame...

does the tank just hang suspended in the frame? Or does in attach somehow? looking good anyway hope to see it like it is in the sketches soon!

Resized the tank, moved the engines, added a few structures.

There will be struts connecting the tank to the frame.

I was hoping to be able to re-learn how to add materials and render this thing in AutoCAD, but my poor little notebook isn't up to the task. I can't even add any more details without the display going to hell.

I am considering my upgrade options.

sweet....... liking the line details there and the numbering :D

Thanks. :)

After re-reading the instructions, I noticed that I failed to list the "technique or feature of the software that (I) have never touched before".

I used some of the newish 3D commands in a newer version of AutoCAD such as 'loft' (I was surprised that AutoCAD could do that).

I also tried some of the materials and rendering commands, but that mostly got me system freezes, "blue screens of death", and the first AutoCAD "Fatal Error" I remember getting in quite a few years.

These challenges have given me reason to learn to use commands that I'd never use at work. (Especially since the computers at work are less powerful than my aging notebook.)

I like this thing... What I wanted to suggest though is to make the tank bigger. On the sketch of yours it seems a like really big one, and I like it better.

Hmmmn. Yeah, I see what you're saying. How's this?

I made the habitat section smaller, to make the tank look bigger.

Aye aye.. It's definitely better this way! In my opinion at least..
