I went with a teardrop shape. Explanation to follow really crappy "concept sketch" which was made after I began work on the model and saw it was a requirement. I never do concept sketches so it was something of a second for me. (The first was the "torture chair" challenge.)

"Darter" Class Sprint Assault Drone.

The Darter is a fourth generation Sprint assault drone fitting into the ship class typically referred to as "needle ships" designed with length and a short width in mind to make use of the smallest jump anomalies to move superior firepower at superior speeds.

The Darter has no crew but a Class XIV Combat AI with FTL communication updates possible through the etheric layer of spacetime.

It holds twenty Vampire class antimatter missiles with a range rating of 15 million kilometres it also has four point defence particle beam weapons rated for a 250'000 kilometre engagement range.

Its sensor suite is second only to specialist system-survey craft and Super-Capital class warships.

The Darter is intended as a first-last strike craft and is typically deployed in armadas numbering no fewer than 200'000 such craft as well as up to a thousand specialist ECM sprint drones.

Well. I know it's intention, but I would make it just a tad shorter. :D but it certainly looks interesting, and I like the idea behind it.

Some minor modelling changes nothing significant. Texturing was done using SymbiontMAX (Freely availiable online, just Google "Darktrees") Because I am really really bad when it comes to texturing.

@Tinukedaya: The really long nose is because it uses forcefields to literally push a small jump point wider than it should be.

Yeh I know it's that long due to the technology, I understood that from your introduction. It just didn't look right on the first pic. But, I guess you changed the curve, because it a lot better now.. the litle "fins" are helping as well.
