Let us know what you think of the chat box on the forum's landing page.

I like it at the top, and since it's collapsible it shouldn't take up too much realestate to be annoying

I don't really mind either way, but if we get the headers bar up there it might get a bit cluttered, so I voted bottom.

I am not to bothered by it.
from my work PC it blocked so I can't see it anyway.

I don't much like them to be honest, but if we must have it then really it should be at the bottom. The top of the page is for 'important' stuff, and a chatbox isn't really that important ;)

I was about to ask "what chatbox?!" until I saw the link at the top...!
"Users active in last 10 minutes: 0 (0 members and 0 guests)"
probably speaks volumes about it as a link though :D I don't think it really adds anything to the site and will probably cause more grief for the mods in the long run

Well, I would like it in a separate window, to allow faster loading of sites.
In addition, I would like it very much to see the pics in front of the topic names back again.
I think it should be at the top, otherwise no one will ever use it

Ta-da! ;)
Where it is now is good but it would be nice to have it available on its own page as well, that way we can browse and keep the chatbox open.

There is another site I go to sometimes that has one that stays open as long as you are on the site. They do it by having a single page (with the box) and the with the forums wrapped inside a frame. Pretty much seamless. Just a thought.

Adding a chat box and then what else thereafter ?
If it is to be displayed, it should appear at the bottom (or another page). If it appears at the top, it should take as few place as possible because it would be really annoying.
Alternatively, it could be a setting in User profile so that it could be entirely turned off (my favorite choice !)

I really don't pay any attention to it,

It only appears on the main forum page at the top, and even then you can turn it off and it stays off.

I almost think that a dedicated IRC channel or SKYPE or something similar would be warranted. The chat box slows load times, though it does add another level of interactivity.
Weighing the chat box against alternatives I would say ditch it in favor of a more dedicated, faster, chat environment, be it IRC, SKYPE, or some other chat application. If a means could be had to incorporate something on the level of facebook... I think that would be ideal.

I see that it says its full.
Some of us from the old days when the IRC was setup into the site still hang out on the channel perhaps should look into reinstalling that?
