Cool Challenge #6 – Ozylot – A Chair for all species

Ok, im going to give a little backstory on this one... (any chance this can be a verbal sketch?)

There are 258 member planets in the alliance, with approximately 312 known races. All the natives of the member worlds are eligible to enter the galactic Fleet of the Alliance (cheesy I know... ), because of this, the alliance needed to design a chair for its ships that would be able to accommodate the various physiologies of the member worlds.

In its offline mode the chair is arrayed as a flower imprinted in the floor, with a glass orb at its center. As the user approaches the orb lifts straight up to match the height of the user, being suspended by a thick robotic cable. The orb is actually a very complex device that is equipped with a micro holo projector, has a touch sensitive surface as well as a passive medical scanner. (primarily used for detecting user modes)

Once the chair has determined the physiology of the user, the 'petals' detach from the floor and quickly float upwards and are arranged in a more chair-like fashion. (specific to the species of user) This is done through the use of special repulser emmiters embedded beneath the petals. (older versions of the chair used flexible robotic cables to accomplish this, the most stable designs use a combination of both methods) Also, the 'petals' have a EM Poly Morphic cushion that can mold the shape to better suit the user. This is useful for gel-like species as well as plant-like ones.

After being 'seated' the orb moves into a position that is more favorable for it being used as a control panel.

Here is a really basic model to give you the idea....

Thanx guys!

Was messing around trying to come up with a good beam material... unfortunately It seems to be turning solid when looking through more then 2 beams. Gotta figure that out somehow.
