I'm not sure if that biped is any real use as it's not got any detail on the spine, which should have curvature: humans spines are a complex shape! You're better off looking at the shapes of real chairs, to give you inspiration. I wouldn't dwell on it too much if you're specifying it's adjustable. It's only one part of the brief: you've also got to get the control system designed, and finish and texture the thing ![]() |

So long as it performs some part of the command and control function (i.e. sitting at the controls) it should be fine. As the control systems in most cockpits are seperate from the chair It seems to me that my controls would b considered more.... not the chair.. ish. Does the chair itself have to command/control something? Its interesting how theres so many design features i never considered. I thought... "oh yeh a chair. thats easy enough... mmm command/control chair... how about a cockpit seat? hey they are handy! yeh ill make one of them" i didnt even think of comfort or command/control.. i work on a more practical or functional level. I tend to go more along the lines of "it needs to do this and this" then make it. |

But of course it might make for a much more interesting piece of work if you have some controll elements on your chair (and it might also raise your chance of winning if you do )It's about the creative engangement with the topic. Do not feel limited by it (within reason). Go wild on the idea of a controll-chair and give us something no one had ever thought before That (and top notch technical and artistic execution) would make a killer entry. |

Because iv made the front, back and right side so busy it looks out of place having nothing on it. Proabably because it doesnt keep with the theme of a highly efficient and functional chair which would have something crammed into every little space. Anyways. Heres where its up to. No Ejecto-seat is complete without seat-belts! gotta keep those cammandin ppl safe when they flyin thru the air. also did some detail on the oxygen bottle and a few other things. Iv gotta get a scanner. Think ill steal my old boys. haha |

Downloads: 1 Uploads: 0 | yeah, I really like this also! all the modeling looks really nice and I think the overall design is right on! If you really wanted to add other elements you could also add some type of ejector release handle that is close to the chair? maybe it sticks out from the floor, or over head... ps. the greenish clay renders really work for this design, too! ![]() |

Funny you should mention the colour of the renders. I wanted to do clay render but the sky i used to light the scene gave off a strong blue hue. The material is a orangy clay colour but with the blue light it makes that nice greyish shade. I stumbled onto it but i really like it so i might do it with alot of my model renders. Anyways I got a hold of my old boys scanner and heres some of the sketches iv made for this design. Its hard to see in the model but the bottom of the scan shows some action diagrams of how the chair is adjustable. No rails, its completely modular and adjusts relative to itself rather than rails on the vehicle. I also have two alternatives for what i want to do once the chair itself is done. I was thinking a cool halo that projects a UI directly into the users eyes (without sending them blind of course) or a big bulky chair design that looks fit to crush things with its own wieght. Was originally leaning towards the big bulky idea but the halo thing has been growing on me. Also figured out some stuff to put on the other side. A control unit for all the electrics on the chair and a bag to put stuff in<always need one of them< |

Computer "Eye lasers" User "Wait what, no don't...... arghhh my eyes!" ![]() While it's hard to make out the sketch, that could be a cool idea for the final project: The unit re-purposed into a number of variables... rather than ditching what you have, make variations of it, and have that be your submission? |
