Wierd error Seeing the material up close, you should maybe try and clamp the bump map a little, so it forms little... plateaus, to mimic granite more?

Instead of having the pads raised, why not have it so that they are the same height as the rest of the chair, only they are chamfered round the sides (forming a V shaped bevel) so it looks like they are seperate elemements which go up and down, much as the chair does when it animates? I also like the idea of the gaps also slightly glowing, that'd be cool!

Visit my Endless Pluto Station project, I'm still working on it, honest!

one would almost expect the controls to be perfectly flat along the surface of the armrest, and have the guidelines glow only when the chair is active.

Love how its coming along so far though!

hey now there's an idea
I'll see what I can come up with tonight

This design is insane. I love it it really mixes some fantasy and sci-fi elements into it that are ingenious. I do have a question though which program did you switch to because I can't get my ACAD renderings to come out looking like that.

oh, I really like that idea...

this is really looking great! is this in max, btw? can't remember?

also, instead of a projector in the floor, you could have a slight indentation, or small 'hole' where it is shining out of... but then if someone walked over it they wouldn't trip or anything... maybe a small hex hole..

I exported from ACAD to .3ds format and loaded into truespace 6.6, and un-triangulated it
the way I constructed the chair in cad made it all one piece so I used the cad model as a template to make the steps, seat, armrests and back
it's mostly 6 sided cylinders
insanely easy modeling, but getting the texture right is the kicker, like I said
