It will hold the cables connecting the creature/chair with the rest of the command center.

Excellent! It almost reminds me a little of the walking chair from Phantom Menace, though that was artificial! I love the control interfaces, very flexible, and yeah those claws would come in very handy for unauthorised users too!

How are you going to texture this one? Displacement mapping, or just colouring? Just curious.

Visit my Endless Pluto Station project, I'm still working on it, honest!

Some colouring. Far from finished.

Looks really good so far, it's quite elegantly simple, and complex at the same time! That top assembly is calling out for a reading lamp hehe, and I do like how even your seat arrangement is looking like a carapace Needs some texture work, and the organic bits are going to be a pain. I'd reccomend doing it maybe like a frog skin, to keep it quite smooth, with some subtle bump, and coloured patterns. It should help a much speedier resolution, than a textured rough skin!

Well, I think this is my last submission here. After some tweaking, is texturing time, and then straight to the submission thread.

I like it quite a bit. I'll echo Tobian's advice, go with a nice smooth organic skin texture, otherwise your nice smooth modeling will all go wasted.
