| SFM Guru | Challenge #6 - Firelode - Commcon 01 I know a little background history isn't strictly necessary but what the hell right if you're going to create it, give it some narrative prescence! Restricted Military archive: Category: Summary of major strategic events Subject - Commcon 01 At one time the most influential chair in human existance commanders and generals single handedly turned the tide of the Selicull insurrection and defeated the Zionades of culta minor. It's most famous incumbent was its' last; Grand Marshall Hieroni'ous Ject who spent 14 years in the chair in one shift fighting against the Melcavi conclave. Humanity was eventually crushed by our victorious Spectre the ruling council of the Warfall brigades and the force that united our species against the belligerant and insidous forces of humanity. Thankfully with the Combat 01 facility cut off from communication Commcon 01 became useless with a synchronised strike against 27 backup units humanity was left reeling in confusion and chaos. Of course our victory was due to human weakness as the then Commander Gregory Chant sold us the locations of several of the better hidden backup facilities. He and his star cluster were spared and are now living proof that our two civilisations can co-operate and have a meaningful discourse and even societal interaction. Many humans, remnants of their once proud fleet, fled into the Mire zones and beyond. Unfortunately a rapid strike force sent some 3 years after the end of the war broke into the then defunct Combat 01 facility and reclaimed Commcon 01. Since then rumours have spread that Chant conglomerates bought the chair and that the Chant star cluster has been retrofitting old starships for military service. Additionally a total of seventeen Mire patrols out of the hundreds we fly every day across that vast region of space have gone missing. Whether or not humanity is becoming more than a subservient curiosity is a matter for speculation. Some of the wilder theories claim that the Chant cluster feigned treason in order to save humanities planet of origin and that they have been waiting for a human fleet bolstered by military colonies in the Mire to return before launching a devastating counter-attack on our civilisation. This of course is hyped speculation, everyone knows that the humans accepted defeat on their now burned homeworld of Ursa Minor 3 years ago. It seems very unlikely that the entire Chant cluster would be a rouse, no species is that cunning. End summary Heh yeh, we not dat smart...... ![]() Just a sketch for now will update with 3D as soon as I've nailed the whole organic shape thing....mmmm might be a while! |

| SFM Guru | Thanks Ozylot, basically it's going to have a bunch of holographic displays and four spine jacks so that the central nervous system of the incumbent can be directly accessed, orders sorted and moving at near the speed of thought across the vastness of space. In itself the chair is just cool shaped and held by an arm with several joints and of course houses the holographic devices for displaying a myriad of different consoles/functions etc. Hope that helps clarify, should have put that in anyway seeing as I didn't draw it! |

| interesting idea.. kind of matrix-ish, but less techno-punky... are you going to show some of the holographic elements? it might add a lot to the final design... imo... |
