Max Challenge #6 - CGandy75 - Alien Insect looking Chair

Ok, so I didn't really start with a solid idea in my head, but I wanted to do the Challenge so I just started doin' a few rough sketches of what I thought would be a cool "ALIEN" chair, or something that looks alien.

The chair is sorta organic with tech mixed in. The outer shell is the carapace of some alien creature maybe grown for the specific reason of using it for armor and/or coverings for the alien technology.

The shell uses anti-grav tech to suspend it above the floor, or maybe not, I'm not sure yet... lol The outer carapace is cleaned out and the technology is the placed in the empty shell. Like I said I didn't really think about the backstory, just the design.

This is just my WIP, and I'm hoping to add more detail. Not sure where to go with it from here, so all suggestions and comments are welcome. I also need help with Ambient Occlusion, it' something I'm hoping to learn about in this challenge.

Thanks guys

Very cool idea! Im curious how one would sit in it though, as that bottom piece looks like it would have the knees bent in a weird way. Looking forward to more of this.

Well, I was thinking that with the bottom piece I would put foot rest's (sturrip like) and the whole thing supposedly hovers with the chair above the floor and moves away when your ready to stand. Everything sorta adjusts to the user. I was even thinking that the chair and foot support curl up together in to a shell type thing and locks down into some station when it's not being used. Maybe even goes down into the floor or up into the celing. I guess in other words your knees could be bent or positioned in any position you're comfortable with... it adjusts to you, the user.

What program are you using for the lighting? Nobody can help you with ambient occ without that bit of info. :P

It's looking pretty cool so far, but it doesn't look all that practical for a human shaped body... maybe something with reverse jointed legs perhaps (like an insect).
