TINSTAFL - "There Is No Such Thing As Free Lunch."

Anyone here familiar with Heinlein's The Moon is a Harsh Mistress will be familiar with this acronym, though the premise, if I recall correctly, is completely different.

Quote:
This is a heist film that is about compassion. In simpler terms its about a nice guy who's a thief.

He lives in a city (wonder why?) where 'thief' is a common job description. The city is run by two rivaling corperations that hire the thieves to steal information from the other corperation.

And so our intrepid young (and naive) thief is given the information (normaly one would pay for this info) for a job from a supplier who says the job ought to be pretty easy (a good thing for a new guy to cut his teeth on) and, this is the plus, high paying from the rivaling corperation.

And so with information of the given items location and a briefing on the security he steals the item and has it taken from him at gun point by a more experienced thief who happens to be in the area. He is told that "Sorry, kid. But there's no such thing as a free lunch."
This is where I think my idea kinda breaks down. The idea seems to be calling for a broader story now, like the intro to the original Indiana Jones. So this is the second part of the idea, which is open to unlimited critique and idea shooting.

Quote:
Disheartened, he makes his way home and scrapes together enough cash to get the info for another job. Upon arriving at the location of the object in question he finds the area to impervious to entering options that are within the time frame of the job. So he goes and barrows a huge gun from an arms dealer and blows open the front gate (insert massively huge explosion here). Inside he dodges large robot gaurds while making his way to the location of the item he wishes to steal.
While the last part is also open for conjecture I can only seeing it ending in one of two ways;

A:
Quote:
While acquiring it he sees the antagonist being cornered by the local police. He saves the antoagonist and offers him free lunch as they fly away.
B:
Quote:
While acquiring it he sees the antagonist being cornered by the local police. He drops a sandwitch with a card on it down onto the antagonist; the card reads: "Free Lunch."
Do realize that this alternate ending cuts off the possibilities of a sequal that contains the more experienced thief. And it also throws into question whether or not the protagonist is actually a nice guy.

This idea was cooked up after seeing some stuff done by Ian Hubert who has had some really nice results using Blender as a CG app. So he is my inspiration right now. In the nein of Hubert I would like this work to be humorous. It is meant to entertain, not awe the audience.

A script of this idea (if there are no ideas or suggestions) will be available under this post as soon as its written.

I'm mainly looking for input on the outline of the story. I want to keep it small, though, no grand battle scenes. :P
