| Well I'm not looking for a stick that has a separate throttle or a gazillion buttons. Just something simple and reliable. I want to use it so I can play my old wing commander games and the Freespace mods that are out; nothing fancy. As for my old stick, it has a serial connector and my new rig doesn't have the proper serial port to plug it in and screw it down... Anyway, i'm only willing to go max 50 bucks on a new stick so whatever I can get in that price range that will be the best for my dollar I'll go for. |

| "Spooky" Mulder | Id say go for the aviator. It may have the extra buttons your not after, but its not like your paying for them as the stick is only £20. Its great for combat as it has a pretty short throw so your not heaving your arm around for full stick deflection, and i found i havent had to play with any sensitivity settings in any games, the default settings are perfect. Some people complain about it being too light and having to velcro/stick it down, but i havent had any problems. I havent tried it with Wing Commander or Freespace, but i have been playing it with old games like Crimson Skies and Falcon 4.0. |

| I used to use a Thrustmaster YF22 stick with F16 throttle. They felt solid and stayed on the desk when I moved the controls. The others felt flimsy and tended to wobble. The programmability of the buttons made it even nicer. So, for a long time I would use nothing else. I even modded it with the digital chip and learned to clean the pots when the signal became dirty. I thought I'd never find another control setup to replace it. Then I came across the X-52 from Saitek. The short description is: its a modern F22/F16 thrustmaster setup. It plugs into the USB port and is programmable just like the F22 setup. Its easier to program, though. |
