Stargate Worlds. Don't waste your time.

Here is the future of stargate.

****ty community and admins
These guys actually let a model thief be there moderator and when there mod started stealing meshes from this site. They banned anyone who pointed it out or even questioned it. There devs are WORSE than CCP's devs. If you thought EVE online and Face of mankind had problems with a corrupt dev/admin team. Wait until you meet these guys!

SOE
Sony buys MGM for nearly $5 billion
Last year Sony bought MGM. Now let's do the math. SONY> MGM> CME> Stargate Worlds. Oh and we can't forget this!
Stargate Online Trading Card Game

(SOE = same people that ****ed up star wars galaxies, matrix online, and now have there targets locked on vangaurd)

NO SPACE OR SPACE EXPLORATION
Confirmed from official forums

WoW leveling System and Archtypes
Should be made into an FPS. Oh wait I forgot! a Stargate FPS game was canceled to make this flopping piece of ****. If I want to level I will play WoW. But don't defile stargate with the same system that every mmo rips. Oh if you look there are no tok'ra

The Archetypes

Archeologist – The Archeologist is an expert in societies, ancient and living. Once relegated to dusty desert digs and dry libraries, they are now an important asset in off-world exploration. With their extensive knowledge of cultures and societal interaction, they can disguise themselves to blend in with potentially hostile locals for intelligence gathering, confusing enemies or ambushing foes. Archeologists also can specialize in aggro management and puzzle solving, making them capable solo characters and a valuable addition to any team.

Asgard – The Asgard are the undisputed masters of technology in the Stargate universe. Similar in appearance to the grey aliens of popular myth, the Asgard are frail physically but rely on drones that hover around them, ready to attack, defend or analyze when called upon. Asgard can also call upon their mighty starships to deliver devastating orbital bombardments when faced with overwhelming odds. The Asgard are jack-of-all-trades characters with a wide skill set limited by the number of drones they can activate at any one time – generally just one. The Asgard can shift from a healer to a tank to a damage dealer by activating a new drone.

Goa’uld – In Stargate SG-1, the Goa’uld are rarely seen without their many servants. Early on, when we see Hathor rise from sleep alone in the midst of Cheyenne Mountain, she immediately uses her powers to seduce new servants from among the men of Stargate Command. In Stargate Worlds, the Goa’uld command minions who are eager to do their master’s bidding. Goa’uld have several types of minions at their disposal, making them almost as versatile in play as the Asgard. Some Goa’uld choose to specialize in the arcane technologies of the Ashrak like the phase cloak and specialized weapons designed for stealthy attacks. Goa’uld also have access to exotic poisons used to cripple enemies.

Jaffa – Jaffa are the shock troops of the Stargate universe. Their staff weapons provide them with a devastating plasma bolt ranged attack and an overwhelming melee combat weapon. Jaffa can call upon their oaths, a special ability that improves the combat ability of their allies, particularly other Jaffa. Jaffa can learn to ignore some damage and continue fighting far beyond the capability of other Archetypes. Jaffa are the strongest characters and they are highly resistant to special attacks. If there is a stereotypical big guy with a sword in Stargate Worlds, it would be a Jaffa.

Scientist – Teams regularly encounter advanced or esoteric technology when they explore new worlds, and this is where the Scientist Archetype is invaluable. Scientists can specialize in analyzing, repairing and using technological devices, using new technologies to craft personal upgrades and creating battlefield emplacements like gun turrets, shields or target inhibitors. Like the Archaeologist, Scientists are skilled at puzzle solving, though of a technological nature. They also can choose to be adept at healing and resurrection technology.

Soldier – Every trip through the gate to a new world is a step into an unknown and often hostile environment. The Soldier Archetype is a battlefield veteran with the training and equipment to protect and enhance squad mates by pouring firepower into their enemies. Soldiers can specialize in weapons ranging from grenades and automatic weapons to powerful heavy weapons like machine guns, mortars and rocket launchers. Soldiers can gain basic healing skills, learn to use exotic weapons and lead teams.

Commando – This Archetype represents highly-specialized warriors like covert agents, Green Berets and Delta Force. Commandos use stealth, demolitions and powerful single-target ranged attacks to disrupt, confuse and neutralize enemies. While able to use stealth effectively, the Commando Archetype also has access to detection technologies used to thwart stealthy foes. They can’t use the variety of weapons available to the Soldier, but they make up for it with access to the sniper rifle and the ability to set up and detect traps.

Here is how stargate will live on. As a COMPLETE defilement to the franchise.

SWG I have little experience with, so I can't say for sure what it is that people dislike about it.
I can say that Matrix online Sucked long before SOE ever got their hands on it. SOE bought the license for the Matrix MMO after it's original creators wanted nothing to do with it after FUBAR-ing beyond anything fun. SOE aquired the game in order to fix bugs and return the game to a playable state in order to rend some amount of profit from it. Whether fun or not, is the player's discretion.
Vanguard is a whole other bag of worms. I know it's easy to demonize SOE for whatever reason you want, but if anything SOE is the goodguy when it comes to Vanguard. Sigil had colossal problems internally that doomed Vangaurd from the beginning. When Microsoft pulled the funding SOE stepped in to help keep the dream alive over there for all the hard working people to actually have some kind of fruit for their labors. SOE didn't change the core mechanics of the game, they didn't do anything other than provide the money Sigil needed to finish the game. SOE also is only doing bug and exploit repairs to the base code of the game after they bought Vanguard off of Sigil games. The game itself will stay the same. Let me also remind everyone that SOE arguably invented MMO's. And Vanguard has serious, systemic gameplay issues that the coders and designers at SOE are going to fix them so the game is playable. And after Sigil canned all their coders, designers, and artists, SOE stepped in salvaged some of their jobs so they could stay on help with mending the problems with Vanguard. So, I don't see the point of SOE hating when all they've done is try to help people who were down on their luck and repair ailing MMO's in order to make a dollar. We do live in a Captalistic Society ya know.

And where SOE sent SWG down the crapper, they are trying to repair some, if not alot of the damage (Beast Master profession being one such example. Although it doesnt come close to how cool Creature Handler was). But they are taking their sweet time about it

SWG is being worked on out of the Austin offices in Texas, so I have no idea what's going on there with that.

Im a former SWG vet myself. played since day 1 Lost my pikeman/CH to both the CU and NGE. Wether SOE invented MMOS or not. The state of MMORPGS is currently in a dark age.

Earth and Beyond: Dead

Star Wars Galaxies: Dead

Second Life: Any hope for this game is gone. Right now its so unstable it can't even be played. Dead.

EVE Online: Corrupt devs, soon to be dead

Infinity: I don't see it being finished any time soon, besides no walking.

Startrek online: I heard recently they are shafting interiors. Yawn boring.

Emperium Online (EnB like MMO): Canceled.

World of Warcraft: My current home but boring.

Entropia Universe: Login system busted. Besides this is one of those lame MMOs were you need real life money for ingame items. Screw it.

Anarchy Online: Good game but ****ty graphics.

Stargate Worlds: Lets hope this game and the people behind it get hit by a car.

All others: WoW fantasy clones. No thank you.

Funny thing is if I had coding skills. I could make a better game than all of these put together.

played with the idea of making a "free" Star Wars MMO at one point, still have the paperwork for it somewhere, just could never find people with the know how of how to make a game properly.

When it comes to SWG SOE have alot to answer for. They recently release the "Beast Master Proffession", which is a re-hash of the old Creature Handler just weaker, and i dont remember (after three and a half years of live play and god knows how long of Beta) how many bugs they've actually fixed, they just seemed to enjoy covering them up and releasing even more bugged content to the game to "shut people up".

As for Star Trek Online, all the work they'd done on interiors makes me think they wont "shaft" them.

Sad truth is Stargate became "all about the ships" a long time ago (in a galaxy far far away...gorran it i need to get out more!!!!) and so removing the ships from the game would be well...rather pointless.

anyway, thats my 2 cents worth of rambling, go back to ignoring me now!

SWG wasn't technically ruined by SoE, but all the changes to WoWify it was demanded by LA, after the NGE totally crashed, SoE has I believe been given full creative control of the game. Also the only negative I have about SWG developement is really the NGE, I have no problem witht he CU's, the first CU ditched the whole everyone needs composite crap, though I did wish they kept different damage types and how different armor worked better against certain types of damage, but it was a small price to pay.

Matrix Online, a game that was ****ty from it's inception was adctually saved by SoE buying it, though they bought it mostly for the rights that cam with it. the CU that was done to MxO was actually started before SoE took over, the fact they decided to finish it is a testament to how they are willing to keep a game barely paying for itself going. that and the CU for MxO was sorely needed, the combat in MxO was unbalanced and plain bad. and unlike the NGE the MxO CU was good.

EQ2 this game was good on release and SoE only imrproved it over time.
the only reason I stopped playing EQ2 was because Banguard Came along

Vanguard, without SoE we wouldn't have VG now, that would have sucked, for all it's faults, VG is simply the best and most advanced MMORPG out there today. personally I haven't had much problems witht he game, but it is unstable for some people, mostly because of system config incompatibilities. With SoE backign VG now finally has the chance to truly shine. It's got a dev team, a solid future and an excellent roadmap allready set up. SoE allready knows they screwed up with the NGE and have publically admitted this and promised to keep VG on the road it was meant to be, and kept Brad on as an advisor.

SoE is not the the big evil of MMORPG's they scrwed up one time, witht he SWG NGE, some people even liked that, but most didn't. They know this, they had admitted this was a huge failure, and SoE themselves haven't evenpushed the blame on LA, even though it seems that's where the blame lies.

Stargate worlds couldn't find a better home than SoE IMHO, Turbine can barely keep their own games going(Actually they can't), NCSoft.. yay, more mass produced puke usign the same engine and everyone of the same level lookign the same,. Blizzard couldn't care less, and frankly, ugh...

Personally I have no love for sony, pushing BD, overpiced game machines and no games, and blatantly lying to their customers over and over(oh well, I'm happy with my 360). But SoE is probably the only branch of the sony empire I don't hate or have a grudge against. Well I do have a grudge for SWG, but my playtime in SWG was so low by the time the NGE came around anyway, had it been different maybe it could have revitalized it, but oh well.

one scheme i saw for leveling up was actually quite ingenious, the level you were issued was based on the items you equipped. So you couldn't actually level up, the level you were given was a general indecator of your strength+abilities. This type of system (levelling) would work for SGW, but only if implemented properly.

"A Level 70 Jack O'neill! OMFG!!!!" I don't wanna hear THAT out of a stargate game...

Current WIPS: None 'cause I'm a lazy bastard.

Its going to be EXACTLY like WoW. No FPS, no space. All inspired by their myst nerd former community manager.
