| SFM Guru | Dark Star One Any one played this game before? I picked up a copy at discount at the local game shop. Thought it would be cheesy but it sounded okay enough. Turns out to be a pretty decent Elite style game very close to Privateer 2 in setup. You fly from space station to space station playing missions, trading, all the standard ingredients. In the background there's a story line you can follow where the lead character is searching for the killer of his father. Interesting twist is that instead of buying different spaceships when you have more money, your own spaceship morphs into newer forms when you find certain artifacts. Off course you also need to buy your standard upgrades like cannons, missiles, generators, shields, etc. Bad sides of this game I've found so far are: - dialogs suck. - AI of opponents leaves a lot to be desired - you basically just have two weapons (railgun and laser) in different strengths, a bit more variety would have been nice - I rather have a choice of ships to buy ![]() Other then that, its an enjoyable space game with an ok story line imho. |

| I played the game before, but lack of ships and weapons to buy made me abandon it. The story was okay, but didn't compell me to continue the game. Also, my computer didn't really like all the asteroid fields...I rather play X3, you can own mutliple ships at once, build/look at nice space stations, fly around them... One of the best space "flight simulators" I have ever played was Freelancer. A remake with up to date graphics would really rock! |
