Probably some lazy-ass modeler at LucasArts decided to just use Ansel's mesh and spend a week or two browsing porn at the office. Won't that be interesting when his boss finds out

It's not a habit, it's cool, I feel alive...

Not sure if it has to do with the version of the model Factalsponge says might have been taken, but there is some noticeable differences on that render, with concerns to the top hull

Rick, I think that is due to the removal of the panelling. On that mesh, the hull is one object, and the panels are separate. The "rim" of the hull is also a separate object, IIRC. I think LEC removed those outer layers and replaced them with textures, giving that apparent difference.

Ansel, of course, knows better than I (though I've spent a lot of time cribbing his ideas by taking that mesh apart piece by piece).

The paneling issue is due to the comparison being made to my v2 mesh. In v1 the side panels were all one shape, as per the model in the trailer (sorry for viewport grab, but can't render the old model here at work):

For the sake of convenience and non-thread hijack, shall we carry over the discussion into general discussion?

yeah that's a good idea . . .
this thread for discussing the game, and the one in General for discussing the mesh
