Gaming from China?

I've been doing some travel, originally from the UK, just about to settle for a few months in China. Whilst I've got some down time and seeing as this year is looking to have the best gaming lineups in ages.

So... Does anyone know how hardware out in the far east compares (price wise) to European ones? If i picked up a gaming laptop say, would it cost me more, less or about the same (considering the make most of it out there, i'm hoping less!?) and would it even be compatible with voltages ect when i get home?

and does anyone know what the gaming scene is like out there? I've heard Asia is pretty massive on MMO's but whats the chances i could access my steam account and FINALLY play that orange box?

I may be wrong of course, but I think things like that would cost a bit less. Depending on the value though, you may be hit with importing charges when you return to the UK...
