Xbox 360 elite- is it worth it?

From what I understand the only difference between a regular xbox 360 and an elite is that the elite comes with HDMI cables and has a larger HDD(and is black).

Does anyone have an elite and is it worth the extra 100 bucks?

thanks!

YEah hardware wise the only difference between the Elite and the new Pro and Arcade versions is that the elite is black.

and as you mentioned the elite comes with a HDMI cable, and while this cable cost 50$ buy, you can just buy any other HDMI cable for far less

It also comes with a 120 GB HDD instead of a 20 one for the premium/pro and non for the core/arcade. The only way you'll need the 120 GB HDD is if you will be using the IPTV function being introduced to the 360 soon. or if you live somewhere they actually have access to the Video MArketplace

PErsonally I prefer the white color and would buy a pro just for that , the HDD I could allways buy later.

btw do make sure you buy an Halo edition, Elite, Pro(still labelled PRemium but with HDMI logo on the box) or Arcade version. and Not the Core or old Pro model as they won't have the HDMI or the new motherboards/cooling that fixes the RRODs.

RROD= Red Ring of Doom?

the 120GB HD would come in handy if you like to use your 360 as a media centre- I've got a mate who's got his music collection on there, playing via a surround sound system and the TV- it's a nice solution considering he's on limited space.

I thought the Elite was the only one with an HDMI port? The pre-Elite ones don't have one and the official site makes no mention of the "Arcade" or standard "Console" versions having been changed to include an HDMI port...

Aside from that, the larger disk is the only difference

Edit: US only for HDMI on the pro version right now... Lovely...

there is only one reason to get the pro, see the way the normal other consoles hold the motherboard is they just slot into the case; and as we know as the xbox heats up the motherboard heats up as well. THis causes the board to flex and damaged the connections with the cpu etc and so forth causing the RROD. In the Xbox elit pack, they have covered the cpu etc with a high strength Resin and also as mentioned new heat sink.

the IPTV thing looks sweet, but it'd be even nicer if the box itself could be used as an HD cable box--keep everything in one place, so to speak

It's not a habit, it's cool, I feel alive...

yeah, the only non pro premium consoles in Europe now should just be old stock and stores should have gotten pro's in stock. just make sure you order form a webstore that lists if it's a pro or that it has HDMI or pick one up in a store where you can see the packaging says HDMI.

but as was said earlier, you should get HDMI in Europe too now.

Also there has just come other news that may make the 120GB HDD more itneresting. The fall update will add old Xbox games for download on XBLA, among the first games to be added are Halo and Fable.

The white permium/pro still looks better than the black imho though

oh and Movie marketplace supposedly comes either with the fall update or following not long after as well.
