Crysis special edition

Well it arrived today, a day early.

In a fold out metal box with a book on the art, the soundtrack CD, a bonus features CD and a bonus unlockable feature.

I'll let you know what it's like as I blast my way through it tonight

Andrew March doesn't live here anymore, his place has been donated to the NUMPTIES!!!

On my second run through now. Only a couple of gripes really, that it ends a lot sooner than expected (because I hear it's going to be a trilogy of games), and you don't get to play much with the big guns. I've dropped a few sought-after attachments, weapons, and vehicles along the way using the editor.

I read that the special editions contains a "unique" vehicle for the mutliplayer mode?
What is it with selling the soundtrack of games these days, when the very same files come with the game anyway?
Hope you had fun though

I feel sorry for people who blew $$$ on a system to play it. Guys on the Crysis forum got it to play high resolution on dx9 in XP the same as dx10 in Vista. Also quad core people who thought they would gain benefits for this game gained nothing.

Very High Graphics Settings in DX9

No Quad Core Scaling in Crysis?

Again, since thi seems like it canot be repeated enough. Very High graphics settings on Crysis is NOT the same as running in DX10 mode, it does NOT give the same graphics.

Yeah, but from what I've seen it comes pretty close. Most people aren't able to use these settings, anyway. I for myself have a T7200 and a X1800 and I'm happy to play it at least with medium settings.

What bugs me a bit: Wasn't it announced that the game keeps track whether you kill most Koreans or sneak around them / sedate them, which would have consequenses later in the game?

Besides that, this game rocks.

Life has a melody, Gaius. A rhythm of notes which become your existence once played in harmony with God's plan.

Odds on the "very same files" don't come with the game. We have moved on from just playing a single continuous stream of music.

In fact its often interesting making a version of the music for an audio CD as the music is not written to be played as individual 'songs' but rather as individual themic elements that are arranged at runtime depending on what is happening in the game.

True, each level has it's own set of elements, arranged by theme. Should be easy to fit the slpit parts back together, and there you have your own custom soundtrack!

gaius, wondered about that too...

For the first time since Trespasser, you have a body in first person.

I love the environment. On my system I can't use the highest settings, so the visuals are similar to Oblivion with better textures and bump mapping -- but the world is much more alive. The way the vegetation reacts to objects and gunfire really adds to the immersion, and the bloom, hdr, and DOF effects are just right, especially compared to the horribleness of UT3's effects. The in-engine cutscenes are also very well done IMO. I haven't been found a fps this atmospheric since AvP2.

And in AvP, you couldn't kill someone by switching to Strength mode and throwing a watermelon at them, or beating them with a toilet brush
