| SFM Guru | XBOX 360 Elite question. So I was playing Ultimate Alliance because it came free with the Xbox, and noticed that when I saved my game to the hard drive, there was only 103 gigs available. I know that there needs to room for the operating system, and there were a bunch of trailers on it, but does that account for 17 gigs of memory. Does anyone else have the elite? and how much crap was on the HDD? |

| SFM Obsessed | I have the 20GB older version and it came with only 11GB free. There were a load of demos, videos, themes, wallpaper/backdrops and so on. Each video had three language versions too. Clear off the crap and you will get the space back. I'm not sure if the drive gets reported with it's actual size or not too - in Windows a 120GB disk will appear smaller when empty as manufacturers like to report a disk is 120GB when in fact it is 117(ish)GB if you correctly calculate it using 1024 bytes for each 1kb block Edit: The other thing I'm not sure about is what block size the disk uses, but if you have lots of 700 byte files and the block size is 2048 bytes then each 700 byte file will take up the whole of a single 2048 byte block |

| There's a FAQ on xbox.com/microsoft that I looked up after getting my 360 Pro w/ 20Gig drive. It states that the OS and other system cache files take up about 7Gigs (dont forget, it *is* a Microsoft product after all) but you can wipe all the other videos and demos off the drive that you dont want/need. |
